I'm fitting my door and fender and find that the fender has to be pushed in all the way and the door pulled out to get them fitting correctly. The back and bottom of the door looks good. As you can see there is a big difference in gaps at the top. The fender has about 0.1" gap for reference...
There is a ton of slop in my hood hinges so I'm going to take a shot at fixing/modifying the pivot pin. The plan is to use a door hinge pin in the small hole and to drill out the big end of the rivet to accept it then weld it up (I'm hoping it it weldable). What I am wondering is how tight to...
I'm looking at replacing my drivers side lower door hinge as its a bit sloppy. Looking at the AMD and OER hinge pics they are both bushed. It seems that bushed pins are not great as there is not much meat in the that area. Perhaps I worry too much as they won't get a ton of use. Shipping...
I removed my floppy hinges and find that the mounting posts are quite grooved. I was thinking of welding 5/8" OD x 1/2" ID sleeves on the posts and drilling the hinge holes out to 5/8". Has anyone done something like this?
I'm just mulling over how to install an AMD quarter panel. I've already installed the driver's side and its all tek screwed in place. There was some lessons learned.
Its difficult to install a whole panel exactly like the factory did. You're going to have to cut and trim around the roof...
I just sprayed my quarters. This is the heaviest texture I could get with a Shutz gun....good enough but not as heavy as the factory. Its just a Dominion Sure Seal paintable rubberized undercoating over top of 2K epoxy primer. I also sprayed a patch near the front (no pic) with a spray can...
Just wondering what experienced painters/restorers think of this plan. I'll probably do the cut in painting and leave the rest to a pro:
Prime and paint inside of quarters before welding them on (and perhaps all of the trunk while the quarters are off)
Paint engine bay and front end - paint up...
So I start to fit the trunk extension and I see they are over a 1 inch too long. The vendor, RPM in Saskatoon, lists these as 67-76 A body. I see that AMD lists 2 different trunk extensions, one for 67-69 and 70-74. I think I got the wrong ones!
I'm currently battling with the removal of my back window. Should I just save myself the trouble and risk of breaking the back window and cut the gasket or should this be doable?
I see this as a '70 Dodge color. Were Swingers available in this color? I don't think I can bring myself to paint my car its original FY1 top banana and I'm trying to stick to a factory color. FE5 Rallye red is the other choice.
I've always wondered what amount of hours a pro would need to replace panels, prime, block, finish sand, etc. (not that I am doing work for anyone else and figuring out what to charge or anything like that). Knowing what a pro would need helps me figure out how long the job will take. For...
I've got some quarters on order and am trying to find a video or pics of how these install specifically along the top line. So far I haven't found anything that gets into those specifics. I do plan to install the whole panel and not cut it down. Perhaps it will be more obvious when I see them...
