    Turbo Camshaft Theory

Minimal overlap due to exhaust pressure being much higher and greater reversion. Also little to no need for a muffler, (hence the original corvair turbo mini-muffler). Stock spec cams work well.

    Evil Shift Cables!!!

Good time to lube the new morse cable while it is off. If you have a steel pan, don't forget the washers in-between.

    PDR on Old Metal?

I have rods too for getting behind and under. If using the glue method, soak the new pull tabs in alcohol, then let them dry completely. Clean the panel well with alcohol as well. Use the biggest tab that will fit or multiple tabs. Put a 2x4 on the ground for the fulcrum and another as the lever...

    PDR on Old Metal?

Yes. PDR is essentially hot glue. There are different glues. The surface prep, type of tab(s), tab prep, how long you wait to pull, lever versus a slide hammer, etc. It all matters. The process is repeated (glue tabs let go) until it is completely pulled.

DIY Alignment made simple, easy and fast: Phone AP Gyraline

Cheaper than paying a shop to not follow your instructions ($140 plus $1 per use). No math and comes with the jig. I've been doing my own alignments since the '90s and while the jig could be better, I don't see any serious accuracy issue that I would care about. No first hand experience and I...

Walker “Sound FX” vs “Quite Flow 3” mufflers

I prefer to use walkers mufflers. The quiet flows are made better and are more effective. Use the biggest case that will fit the space. The soundfx are not straight through. There are also tail pipe inserts that can be bought or made.

    plane crash at Pomona

IMHO, not much he could do at that point when there was no margin left. He never was lined up to land, had about 10 minutes to declare, had speed and alt, fly the "blue line", come in high and slip as needed, put off extension. Don't need power to land.

    Frt sway bar brackets

You could remove the brkt from the frame, install a standard poly bush and brkt on the bar, then build an adapter brkt to go between. Another option is you could bend two 1/2 inch wide and one one inch wide by 1/8 strips, lap the center strip over the sides slightly and weld them together...

    P/S belt squeal

The pulleys you have are either pre-'69 or for a heavy truck application with a wider groove and the larger PS pulley od. The good news is it looks like they all match for the PS groove. Try a 9 instead of a 7 first digit for gates (9465) or 17 instead of 15 for the other numbering system for a...

Holley 2280 - Accelerator pump adjustment

With the throttle resting against the idle stop on the body, straighten the arm enough to push the pump arm off the little access cover. If it rests against the cover, then the linkage has to move enough take up the slack at the linkage holes before the pump will move. Closed throttle, the pump...

What's the best engine paint for the red that's on the early slant 6s and 273s?

You can add about 5 oz of bright yellow to a quart of ford red for a bright red-not quite orange close to 944 or mazda "classic SU Red". Fully orange would be 50/50. Could also add bright red to "kubota orange".

Oh no, not another torque converter thread

It sounds like the "flexplate" is bent. Rotate the crank 120 degrees and check the depth again at the same spot on the block, then repeat (runout).

    Moog camber kit junk?

Not ideal unthreaded shank length, but those adjusters can be reused. You might need to hold the eccentric washer from rotating with a flat screwdriver wedge while tightening. The damage is from using the bolt head to turn the eccentric washer with the threaded section. Don't weld the area to...

    Moog camber kit junk?

Also, it is possible the kit you have is the wrong box/part number or right box with the wrong/swapped contents. It happens a lot. Some folks buy the wrong thing, later when it is time to wrench realize it is the wrong thing (too late to return), order the right thing, then return with the...

    Moog camber kit junk?

The cam bolt must be loose to adjust, then tighten the bolt after the eccentrics are rotated to where you want them to be. The bolt is for clamping once positioned.

Help me re-route trans cooler lines

If you are an experienced welder, you could spot weld tabs to the pan to hold the lines away with addel clamps and machine screws with lock nuts. 0.080-0.100" would work well or buy light gauge nut plates. If using fire sleeve (silicon coated fiberglass weave), make sure it is sized at least as...

    A little Turbo Selection Help

I doubt the turbo has a positive seal for when you have vacuum (which will pull oil out of the cartridge even with oem diesel turbos that have a ring seal). 5-6psi is reasonable with a draw through carb. Slant 6 timing chain lubrication?

There is going to be some oil spray with no mods. This would be a cooling improvement for the timing set. I would just take the corner off (same angle you used), and take off no more than .040" from the corner (compare to unmodded depth, corner to notch). You can check with a straight edge...
