Tamco paint - bad customer service

Yeah I was using a black sealer coat over gray primer but the color wasn't even in the ballpark. Turned out to be a waste. Good info on the metallics. I'll definitely remember that.

    Insulating a metal shop?

I saw those kits but the amount of kits you'd need to purchase for a 30x50x12 building is a lot. I've been reading so much conflicting information about insulation that it's making my head spin. If I wind up doing the foam board insulation with a 1" air gap, do you think it's best to use...

    Priming engine oil

One time I primed the engine but didn't see any oil anywhere and kept priming because I wasn't sure how long it was supposed to take. I then started to turn the crank and oil shot out of the engine like old faithful. Stained the sheetrock on the ceiling. Don't do that.

Keep those wheels spinnin' and keep them beavers grinnin'. Over and out.

    No Start Issue

Probably not it but check your timing. I had a thread going a while back with an issue where I could intermittently get the engine to fire up with the key but normally it would slow crank. If I jumped the starter relay, it always cranked over fast. Turns out my timing was too advanced. Backed it...

Am I Missing a Grounding Strap For My Gas Tank Sending Unit?

If you want to test it out for free, just clip a wire from the sending unit line to the fuel line and see if your gauge changes. I doubt it'll correct your 9 gallon fillup problem but adding a strap definitely won't hurt anything. The line on your sending unit looks pretty shiny. Do you know...

    Wiper Switch Problem

Buy yourself a cheap volt meter and use this as an easy opportunity to learn how to ohm out a switch. It'll help with troubleshooting most problems on these old cars. Simple and easy to do with the switch out of the car. You may have to put up a wanted ad on the forum for your switch. If I...

Am I Missing a Grounding Strap For My Gas Tank Sending Unit?

I get the logic there but I don't really see why it's necessary.

    Insulating a metal shop?

Wow thanks I really appreciate all the info. I saw that guy from Fairfield on marketplace and there's also a guy closer to me but he seems a little sketchy. The government has a 30% tax credit up to $1200 I believe so if their prices aren't lower than that, then I might as well just buy them...

    Insulating a metal shop?

I think I'm going to go the same route except I'm going to mount some furring strips on the metal studs and then attach a flat simpson strong tie plate across it to hold the foam in. This way the foam will be even with the furring strip and that'll allow me to cover it with whatever I want in...

    Insulating a metal shop?

Bravo. Your shop is insanely nice! I can't even imagine what it would cost to spray foam that thing in 2024. I just got a quote for mine for 12k. Guys on youtube talking about 30-35k quotes on their 40x60s. Insane. I think I'm going to try that 1.5" R-Tech foam board I posted in the original...

    Insulating a metal shop?

I recently got my 30x50 square tube metal shop put up and am currently going through sticker shock on insulation. Not only that but researching it is making my head spin. It seems like no matter what I read, everything is always wrong with every form of insulation. I'll admit I have zero...

My search for a shorty D100 is over

Yeah I guess what I mean is it'll cruise just fine once you're already doing 75. The issue is getting it up to 75. If you have a short on ramp with a stock slant six in CA, you're a liability. I just drove my SL6 Duster to work this morning and I have to do everything in my power to ensure I...

My search for a shorty D100 is over

Nice score! I had a 78 D100 SL6 3 on the tree about 15 or so years ago. It was very difficult to keep up with traffic and the slow shifting a 3 on the tree requires made it even more difficult. I have a feeling you'll be swapping it out sooner than later down in socal.

Need some electrical help with my ‘68 Plymouth Valiant 100

That thing is called a bulkhead connector. Your fuse box is under the dash on the driver side. The bulkhead just allows wires to pass through the firewall to the interior. Congrats on getting the bulkhead connectors off without breaking them. No small feat on an old car. I'd tackle your other...

TKX 5spd and BHS578 Hoop Cutting and Shifter Location (photo)

I moved the shifter toward the rear of the car in my 68 Barracuda. If you're using a console, you'll probably need to fab up a bracket like I did to get the shifter in the right spot so it's centered in the console top plate/boot. No console and you should be fine after you move the shifter...

    68 Dart turn signal switch

I have the same one in my Duster and Barracuda. I'm not sure if I installed the lever wrong or what but the lever in both cars has a ton of play in it. Up and down as well as back and forth. Is yours the same way?

    8 3/4 vs 8 1/4 weight

Haha I might be. Since you're still in Taxifornia, come help me carry this 8 1/4 up into my loft and you'll see how this thing feels like it's made out of lead.

    8 3/4 vs 8 1/4 weight

Help me understand difficulty of ownership

Chevy and Ford will be cheaper but not necessarily easier. You've got FABO and YouTube university as well. If you spend $25k on a Duster, you should be buying a car that is pretty much ready to go without much hassle other than routine maintenance. Things will break as you go and each piece...

    No Headlights 2.0
