I found the following 2B463848. My vin has H3B152867. Hamtramck car, but obviously not the original engine. I’ve had the car since 1976, however in the 3.5 years of its previous life someone obviously blew the original engine.

I’m not finding the pad. Is it mid engine between the oil filter and the R/H mount?

my ACE doesn’t have it. I’ve spent the last hour trying to find one on the internet over 3/8. The stud my spring mounts on is 3/4”. Tough size to find.

Thanks. I The hood is fiberglass and is beginning to buckle from the old springs that were made for a heavier hood. don’t weld(sadly).

This is what I’m trying to describe. The center-post has what appears to be a reverse C clamp or two tabs holding the end of the spring in. I’m wary of bending the hinge if I pry too hard, but this little bugger does not want to come out! I noticed that your spring had the same insert.

I noticed that on the center post in your picture, the spring end seems to have a C clamp or something holding the end of the spring in. How did you get the end of the spring out of the Center post?

Do you have any info on your mod? It looks great, and probably works a lot better than the springs

Does anyone have a simple method of removing this spring. I’m hesitant to pry it off due to its stored energy. Pry bar? Also, getting the new lower tension springs on looks interesting!

Kinda what I figured as I was eyeing them for a scrap metal run.

I have 6 old 360 heads I’ve inherited over the last 2 decades. 4 of them have hardened seats. Are they worth anything more than scrap value? Even my W2s are vastly outdated today!

I have used that and find it to be difficult at best, but that’s probably because have not figured out the trick behind getting the gear out and back in correctly without a lot of swearing. Has anyone considered making a quick video about the “tricks” involved? I know it’s supposed to be simple.
