    '64 Barracuda Armrest Pads Help

I am working on the interior of my Dad's '64 Barracuda. The cars interior is the goldish color. I got new door panels and interior with this color. I am now working on the armrests. The bases are in good enough condition that I am just going to respray them, but the pads are a mess. Even if I...

    Runing Hot, '64 Barracuda

The factory gauge doesn't work, but it just feels like it is really warm when I pop the hood after having it on the road for a few minutes. I don't know if it was a slant six car originally. I have to find the tags from my Dad to decode it. I am only thinking it is running hot by feel and smell...

    Runing Hot, '64 Barracuda

I have a '64 Barracuda that has a 318 swap. We bought the car with the engine in it already, so I am not sure on a lot of the components. The engine seems to run a bit hot, but the fan does kick in. I am wondering if I need to install a larger or aftermarket radiator because of the larger motor...

    Torque converter or different cam

Yeah my Dad will be using it as as sudo daily driver, a few times a week. I am not sure what the trans is or the gears. Sorry, doesn't help much. I am thinking it might be stock, but not sure what the previous owner did or didn't do.

    Torque converter or different cam

So the shop that was just working on our '64 Barracuda w/ a 318 in it, said that the cam appears to be pretty large for the motor. I like the way that the car sounds and runs, but it does lurch pretty bad when going into gear and when stopped at lights. They said that I could put in a torque...

    64 Barracuda 318 Issues Running

Well looks like the points were bad, even though we had just replaced them a while back. They pulled them out and they were really worn down. They put new ones in and got the spark back. Then of course the starter went, so we had to replace that. We just drove it home today from the shop and it...

    64 Barracuda 318 Issues Running

My dad has been having issues on his 64 Barracuda. It has a later model 318 in it with a brand new Holley carb on it. When we bought the car we were told it had a pretty big cam in it, but have no idea what size. We have put a new distributor, new points, new plugs, new wires and have put in new...

    Transmission part questions

Thanks for all the info, trying to get Imperial to bring a new set of cables to Mopar Nats for me, have a friend going down there. Also found out there was no kickdown linkage on the trans and am going to replace all the orings and seals at once.

    Transmission part questions

My Dad has a '64 Barracuda that has a transmission leak. He took it to a local shop and they gave me the following things to be replaced. They wrote it on a sheet for my Dad and he wanted me to do some research and price things out first. Can anyone help me out on part numbers for the following...

Hey there, been a while since I have been on here. Just wanted to let you know that we finally have the Barracuda up and running. My Dad actually entered it into the Ashippun's Firefighter's Picnic Car show a few weeks ago. It still needs lots of work, but at least is is mostly road worthy!

    Door panel clips

Can someone tell me if there is a place to purchase those little metal door panel clips that go inside the backer board of a door panel? I am putting in new door panels, but the old ones are all bent up. Thanks in advance!

    '64 Barracuda Bumper Bracket

I am looking for a bumper mounting bracket for my '64 Barracuda Fastback. The one we have appears to be bent and made it nearly impossible to mount the bumper. I am located in 53066 ZIP code. Thanks

    Exhaust on 64 Barracuda?

Yeah looks pretty tight. Think it may end up being 2.25instead but I think I might just have to see what he can. I will just tell him to go as big as he can but not have it drag on the ground or make any other mods.

    Exhaust on 64 Barracuda?

I already did the crossmember modification. We know this guy personally so maybe I will just let him go for it.

    Exhaust on 64 Barracuda?

So finally getting the car to the muffler shop next week for exhaust work. It has a 318 in it and I believe factory manifolds. The guy asked me if I knew if the manifolds would accept 2.5 pipe cause that is what I was going to go with. Any buddy know if the will? I don't think I need 2.5 inch...

    Voltage to coil

I am guessing based on your statement then I should probably try and hook back up that second dark blue wire again? If the choke was set too rich, would that cause some gas to leak out of the carb or is there an issue with the new gasket they put on when it was rebuilt?

    Voltage to coil

Thanks for all the help, that worked great. Pumped the pedal about 6 times and she started right up, well died the first time but that was because I let off the gas. Still have to figure out how to set the choke though to help it run a bit better right out of the gate. Guessing I will just have...

    Voltage to coil

So just to confirm, on the ballist/resistor, I should have the dark blue wire and the choke wire on one side, then the brown wire and the positive coil wire on the other side.

    Voltage to coil

OK, so tonight in the humid weather of Wisconsin, the wife gave me a few minutes to work on the car. I disconnected the 2nd blue wire to the resistor and removed the choke wire from the coil. Pumped the pedal a few times and she almost turned over. Pumped a few more times and she turned over...

    Voltage to coil

But if I put just the one dark blue wire and the brown wire on the resistor and still got 12 volts, doesn't that tell me that I am not losing the voltage in the block or on the ignition? Is the coil pulling too much? I thought maybe it was because we had hooked up the electric choke to the coil...

    Voltage to coil

OK, I will give that stuff a try in a few days. I have a bachelor party to go to for a friend today, so no working on the car today and probably be too hung over tomorrow! :occasion: I will keep you posted on what I am finding. Thanks again for all the help, it is greatly appreciated.

    Voltage to coil

OK, so I started from square one. Pulled the dark blue line that didn't have voltage and pulled all plugs off the coil side and turned the key on. Got about 12 volts on both sides of the resistor. So then I connected up the brown wire and it stayed at 12 volts on both sides. I then added the...

    Voltage to coil

You are right on the 'box', it says IGN and FLD. Two wires, one a push on the other a screw terminal. So what sounds normal, the wire configuration or the voltage? What is the easiest way to check the connections in that block? Do they come out easy?
  27. jlindemann

    Voltage to coil

OK, back home, here is what I have. On the top post I have 2 dark blue wires. One looks like it is coming from the Ign. box on the firewall. The other one is coming from the big block of wires (sorry for the technical term). Then on the bottom post I have a brown wire, which also goes back to...

    Voltage to coil

It is only a 2 post resistor. I believe everything is stock our at least that is the way it appears. I can try to post pics when I get home tonight. There are trip wires tied together on one female fitting on both terminals of the resistor

    Voltage to coil

I am at work right now so I can't give you details but if I remember correctly there are two wires on the top and two wires on the bottom of the resistor. Could that be my issue? I will try to look and determine wire colors tonight when I get home and post them for your help. Thanks for the help!

    Voltage to coil

I am hoping this is a quick one for someone. I am having issues getting my car to start up. It is a '64 Barracuda with a 318 in it. I believe it is the factory coil that was on the motor when the previous owner put it in. When I check the voltage on the resistor on the firewall, I get 11.6 on...
