    Porting RHS/Indy heads

Thanks Gamedog, thats sound advice. Thats who I sourced them from. Brians a great guy and a busy guy. I figured I'd check the forums first. Easier to get a visual with pictures and such, rather than over the phone (might have to call and then correspond via email). Not sure if he frequents the...

    Porting RHS/Indy heads

At this point, I'm just doing some gasket matching, pushrod relief, valve boss blending. My question is, do I dare touch the short turn/bulge further past the pushrod tubes? I plan to do some bowl/seat work on the exhaust bowls, but the intake bowls look plenty good ootb. Any advise is...

    Broken L/R servo spring

I guess Im not even sure what controls line pressure. I've heard/read about the solid spacer deal. Although not sure what benefit it would have. I know when people bump the LP too much, they start cracking/calking piston. I'll have to look into it all again, its been a while. I plan to upgrade...

    Broken L/R servo spring

I would, but Im just gonna build the 46. I think if I lay of the loud peddle it should get me through the winter.

    Broken L/R servo spring

Im kinda curious as to what it does. I have the torqueflight book (with the A body Cuda launching) probably explains it in there. Been a while since I read through it. Its a TF-2, and came with a spacer. I just pulled a cushion spring from a 518 I have. Stiff lil spring that's for sure...

    Broken L/R servo spring

My front clutch is on borrowed time as it flares in 3rd. So to bandaid it I decided to throw in a transgo SK I had laying around. Upon removing the low/reverse piston, I discovered the cushion spring was broke. Any Idea what could cause this, or is it just common from fatigue. What might be some...

    Kickdown band lever ratios

I understand the higher the ratio, the tighter the band clamps the drum and quicker it shifts. But, why so many different ratios? Is a 5.0 too much for the street? How hard would it shift? Any other input is much welcomed. Thanks

    MSD E Curve Distributor

Got one, just haven't hooked it up yet. I thought when the base of the plug (what the grnd strap is welded to) is fully sooted its actually a lil too rich, but for a DD is good. Like I said, this set was idled/cruised/wot so its hard tellin. I was more worried about if the porcelain was showing...

    MSD E Curve Distributor

I don't see any obvious signs of pre-ignition/detonation. Not sure why #5 and #8 porcelains are so white. The base of the plug indicates their happy. These plugs aren't really a good indicator to fuel mix as they've been idled, cruised, and wot. I didn't get to look with a magnifying glass, but...

    MSD E Curve Distributor

Im no expert either, but I know what detonation sounds like. It didn't like 44, got slight ping @ WOT. I will agree that 42 IS a shipton. After driving around today, she was giving me fits starting. So I'll have to back it off some. Yep, powerbond, couldn't think of it. Idk if its the bees...

    MSD E Curve Distributor

Yeah its a great design, although Im a lil concerned about the board frying. Evidently people have found that enough carbon dust can short it out. Makes me want to lather it in silicon. One thing I did notice, is the chevy style hold downs for the cap don't seat the cap all that tight. I can...

    MSD E Curve Distributor

Hey guys, I just installed an E Curve dizzy. Those who don't know, its a digital diz with its own built in ign module. It allows the user a variety of custom tailored advance curves that you set by following a graph with corresponding letters and numbers that you then set with little dials under...

Got fuel, spark, comp but no start

Turned out to be my dizzy and potentially a bad coil as that too was leaking. Put in a MSD E Curve distributor and HV coil and she runs great :D. I've never been so happy. Thanks again everyone

Got fuel, spark, comp but no start

Well finally figured it out (been super busy), turns out I had fouled plugs, but hears why. I had spark at the header bolt, but when I ground at the plug (in the head), the spark is VERY weak. Now I just gotta figure out why the plugs aren't making contact. Only thing I can think is when I...

Got fuel, spark, comp but no start

Haha I like that idea, now that's improvising lol. Yeah I might just do that, doesn't hurt to have an extra coil for backup. How long did the blaster last? Id hate to pull apart the front of this motor, I high tacked everything :D. I'll turn it into scrap b4 I ever pay anyone to work on it.

Im not stabing in the dark, I've tried everything thats been suggested. Just stating the facts, sorry if that's arrogant.

Got fuel, spark, comp but no start

Been using carb cleaner as starting fluid for years w/o problems. I realize anything conducive that can bridge the power/solinoid cables will work. But when your by yourself on the side of a highway, your not gonna crawl under, bump it, crawl out, check the damper over and over. It'd be...

Got fuel, spark, comp but no start

Spark might be getting knocked out by compression/cylinder pressure. Its only 9.5:1 so I kinda doubt it, but...

Got fuel, spark, comp but no start

Fuel is fresh and clean, filter has maybe 500-600 miles. If it isn't going to react to carb cleaner (very volatile), I don't see it being fuel issue. I've seen motors run on stink gas (not very good mind you) my gas doesn't stink. Its maybe a month old. I have a remote start switch (said...

Im getting fuel, I even gave it a good spray of carb cleaner.

Got fuel, spark, comp but no start

Yeah I was thinking that, even though I have good spark. I read that stock (oil filled) capacitors can't be used reliably with msd ignition since msd bypasses the ballast and they can't handle constant 12v. Im using a accel super stock, but I talked to msd b4 I put in the ignition and asked if...

Got fuel, spark, comp but no start

I built the motor... I mean they're not wet/fuel/oil fouled. The accelerator discharge nozzles are giving fuel. I already ruled out fuel, like I said, it didn't even flinch at carb cleaner (chlorinated). Not very easy by yourself w/o a remote switch I built a new generation motor that...

Got fuel, spark, comp but no start

Cam was installed straight up, with brand new double roller gear set, plugs are dry and clean. Like I said b4, the only reason I messed with the timing the first go around was because a was out of Ideas. I didn't have means of accurately turning the motor (via 3/4" ratchet and socket) so I just...

Got fuel, spark, comp but no start

It has spark at the plugs so Id imagine it has spark at the coil. I've since replaced the switch, relay, starter, also has a good agm battery that's only a year old.

Got fuel, spark, comp but no start

Tdc lines up with 0 on the damper when I first played with the timing. I put it at tdc and pulled the dizz to have a look at the cam gear and when I put it back in the rotor was pointing at the #1 tower on the cap. I then kept advancing it till it started. I havnt checked it since though...

Got fuel, spark, comp but no start

My 86 ram with a freshly rebuilt 408 refuses to start. Its been on ongoing issue with both the mopar ignition and now with the msd 6al. The old teener it replaced ran fine, well, never a no start issue that is. I have 170 in every hole, got fresh gas (ether too), good strong spark, but no...

    MSD 6al... (weak spark)

This is a breakerless distributor. Im checking spark by holding plug to header bolt and watching spark from electrode to grnd strap. I did just remember that the heads were painted off the motor so head bolts aren't making much if any connection. Couldn't paint over them pretty arp bolts...

    MSD 6al... (weak spark)

The only grnds atm is a 4awg eng to bat attached to head and a 10-12 gauge from bat to rad/core support. I've been meaning to upgrade by adding a chassis grnd from bell to frame. Not sure if my head is a good grnd since its only grnding through the head bolts, dowels, and I guess pushrods. Not...
