I would if I had one. Plan to rub the retainer on sandpaper to take a little meat off. One video I watched showed the guy putting a thin film of grease on the crank then bolting down the retainer, then pulling it back off to look at the grease to see the contact. Sounded good to me.

    Wiring Dakota Digital

Going from non-rallye to rallye instrumentation: as far as the wiring goes- those who have installed the DD instrument cluster did you cut off the original non-rallye wiring harness connectors (for example the turn signal indicators or the fuel level) and then run the wires to the control box or...

Ugh, I can only imagine. With no lift available it will be a "dad on his back on the concrete floor" job. Hey, if working on our cars was easy (and cheap!) everyone would be doing it!

Wow! I have a new seal coming and certainly want my drip, drip to stop after fixing it. What I've seen may be a key is to sand the bottom of the retainer to remove some material to allow the seal to be closer to the crank. Since the engine is in the car this job should be fun!

    904 Governor Replacement

Shift points are "tuned" best by changing the length of the kickdown rod. You did not tell us if this is a street car, but if so, you will want to adjust the kickdown rod. The governor controls the maximum RPM where an upshift will occur, primarily in a racing (or hot street) application. The...

Anybody using Driven brand HR-2 oil in their slant?

Too bad the chart does not list the Driven GP series. I went with the oil recommended by Lake Speed

Anybody using Driven brand HR-2 oil in their slant?

When I bought my 408 from Blueprint Engines (hydraulic roller) they said to NOT use synthetic until after the engine has like 5000+ miles on it. They then changed that recommendation to something much higher. I used conventional oil since I would change it frequently and did not want to spend...

Can I flush out an aluminum radiator with vinegar or some other chemical?

Thermocure is designed for cleaning engines, largely through driving the car for several hours to allow the heat of the coolant to react with the coolant to remove the rust. I'm sure people try all sorts of things but you're better off using a product that is designed for shower heads & toilets...

Can I flush out an aluminum radiator with vinegar or some other chemical?

I watched the video on Thermocure before I bought it. They also showed how you could drain the radiator into a bucket and reuse that water mixed with thermocure in another engine as well, or use the drain water to clean parts.

904 with very hard 1-2 shift

I once mistakenly put a 727 front servo spring into my 904. The 1-2 shifts were bone rattling. It was really difficult to stuff that big spring in there too! I removed the spring after I found out what I did. That resolved the issue. Like junkyardhero said, be sure to check your line pressure to...

    Bad engine miss

I had a slant 6 rebuilt from a '74 Valiant that had been sitting for a long time and fired it up. Ran great for about 15 minutes then started running very badly. Pulled the valve cover and had several pushrods bent. Bottom line was bad gas sitting in the tank was not flushed out and the fresh...

Which ARP Bolts for bolting up a 727 to a 440?

Negative comment? Expressing the concern I had apparently was invalid.

Which ARP Bolts for bolting up a 727 to a 440?

Issue I see with studs like you're recommending is if replacing the engine without pulling the engine and trans together. If the angle of returning the engine is not correct it could hit the studs and damage them.

    Causes of engine block crack?

Sorry for your loss on this one, Dano. Hopefully you can have that sleeved to fix if you want to keep it. If not, maybe time to upgrade to a 408 stroker by Blueprint? Can't beat their warranty, and drop in and go. Had a bad engine in my 70 Duster so got the 408 from BPE and never looked back.

Better option than a ground strap?

Talk to Tony at CE Auto Supply. I installed his grounding kit when I relocated my battery to the trunk. He's a car guy too so very knowledgeable and a great resource for "why do this"... https://ceautoelectricsupply.com/individual-components/ground-straps-grounding-solutions/

    P/S belt squeal

Alternator belt is on the crank to the A/C compressor. Edit: everything looks lined up well. I used brakeclean this morning on the pulleys and it made no difference.

    P/S belt squeal

Have been chasing a squeal for some time now and narrowed it to the P/S belt. The belt was very tight so that was not the issue. Was using a Dayco 15465 so thought I'd try a Gates so got a XL 7465. It squeals more than the Dayco one did. I tried gently sanding the pulleys which made no...

    San Antonio TX interior repai

There was a headliner company downtown close to Ft Sam that I used years ago when I had the headliner on my Dodge Van done. Excellent work and was not expensive. Don't recall the name of the place.

Oh no, not another torque converter thread

I have not personally seen that happen, but all I can think of is the converter is not fully engaged into the input shaft. Normally the TC pretty easily engages with a little twist as you work it in. As a test, do you have another TC that you can try to fit to see if that one fully engages?

    Which Water pump?

As Junkyardhero said, be sure to go with a high quality, high flow thermostat (Stewart Components) when you upgrade to a pump like the FlowKooler. The good thermostats have large windows and flow more. The picture I included is not necessarily for a Mopar, but makes the point visually.

    tilt steering column upgrade?

+1 for Flaming River. Put one on my 70 Duster. Got the little wiring kit that let me plug into the OE harness so that was painless. Only downside I had was the OE steering wheel I had would not fit as the new column is not keyed with the notch for Mopar wheels. Had to go to tuff, which was not...

FINALLY - MY SMALLER FRONT TIRES

When I bought my Duster (from a classic dealer no less) the rear tires had a wobble to them. Was going to change them anyway but when I removed & took the wheel/tire assemblies to the tire shop the guy said those tires were nearly 30 years old. Yikes! I drove almost 200 miles home on those...

    Classic Auto Air

I have the Vintage Air system and am not thrilled by how the condenser is right up against the radiator. As I recall (could be wrong), the stock condenser was mounted away from the radiator by a couple of inches... and I believe that helped airflow thru the radiator. What do you guys think about...

    Big Block 440 Flexplate Install

I run a drop of blue loctite on each bolt. Before doing that be sure all the bolts thread because the flexplate will only align to the TC bolt holes one way. When I had my engine out I put the flexplate onto the TC and found how things aligned, then I marked the TC and flexplate with a little...
