Dealing with a negative family member…or a person who just likes to put you down

It has 50k on the odo but the seller said it probably turned over at least once. Other thing I wanted to do was get it out to clean off the inch or so of grime that has accumulated over the last 50+ years.

Dealing with a negative family member…or a person who just likes to put you down

I’m mostly tearing it down to the block o make sure it isn’t cracked or warped beyond repair, and for the experience of rebuilding an engine. I did get it turning and it fired over with starting fluid. Before I started removing parts and such, it wasn’t getting any fuel from the tank to the fuel...

Dealing with a negative family member…or a person who just likes to put you down

Thanks JD. I’m not sure he will ever grow out of it. I did find out today that others have noticed his behavior without me saying anything. My dad and step mom stopped through and that was the first thing they mentioned while we were out to dinner. I’m looking forward to completing the project...

Dealing with a negative family member…or a person who just likes to put you down

I want to thank everyone for the likes, similar stories, and words of encouragement. It’s been nice to be able to get this off of my chest and discuss it with everyone.

Dealing with a negative family member…or a person who just likes to put you down

Slant. I’m currently working on pulling the engine and getting it over to the machine shop to make sure it’s useable. I bought it from a buddy and he parked it in 2011 due to severe overheating, but drove it occasionally if needed before then. Here is a link to the convo we had about his time...

Dealing with a negative family member…or a person who just likes to put you down

We are all in our 40s. It’s mostly the middle ragging on me…been that way our whole lives. Oldest usually did his own thing. We were all in the military but led different paths until probably the last 4 years or so. I left the military well before them and they are now either retired(oldest) or...

Dealing with a negative family member…or a person who just likes to put you down

He has had several projects, currently an 83 S10. I also have had several, but since we only have talked sparingly over the years until he decided to reach back out to family on a more regular basis, this is the first vehicle he has known about.

Thanks Clementine! Only issue is he does it in Family Text messages so I’d be ignoring others as well

Dealing with a negative family member…or a person who just likes to put you down

Thanks dude! I felt like you guys would. I just second guess thinking I’m in the wrong…years of living that way has its affect on a person.

Dealing with a negative family member…or a person who just likes to put you down

Thanks brother. I’m been at that point with him a few times. Every time I open back up it ends up the same.

Dealing with a negative family member…or a person who just likes to put you down

Hi all, Here is a thing I’ve been dealing with my whole life. I am the youngest of three brothers and my middle brother constantly craps on anything I do and has to berate me in front of anyone as much as possible. I’m a pretty laid back dude but he has always gotten to me. So, I recently got...

I had the same thought…I’ve been looking locally at the parts stores but I think it will be something I’d have to order

Anyone know what these numbers are? Just curious.

Here is the hoist (rated for 1 ton) and the engine stand (rated for 1000lbs)

    First Mopar Restoration

I'm hoping so too. I got the hoist and stand today for pulling the engine and transmission. Service manuals from 1976 are coming this week. While the engine and trans are out, I will be deep cleaning the engine bay and sending it off to a local body shop for an inspection.

    First Mopar Restoration

The consistency was very similar. It was reminiscent of the blue devil head gasket sealer if you are familiar with that. The previous owner said they probably used a “silver seal”. Not familiar with that but I’m guessing like the bars leak “copper seal”? Which doesn’t make sense because I didn’t...

    First Mopar Restoration

Hello again everyone! I posted the second episode of my restoration video blog yesterday and have already begun episode 3. I will be getting hot and heavy in the engine bay this week with pulling the motor, cleaning and painting the engine bay, and rebuilding the engine...Hopefully I can get all...

    First Mopar Restoration

Thats the plan. I just got the engine hoist and stand and have a buddy coming over tomorrow to help pull the engine. I'm going to get it stripped down and take it to a machine shop for washing and testing.

    Emissions on my Slant

Thanks dude. No Smog stuff here…can you go a little more in depth on recurve of distributor? I’m not sure what that means. I have basic mechanic knowledge lol

    Emissions on my Slant

The hose diagram sticker is still there. I have a Haynes Manual but will look into getting an actual service manual

    Emissions on my Slant

Hello all. I’m working on my first 1970s Mopar A body. I’ve noticed while going through the engine bay that half of the emissions lines are not hooked up. Only one line to the canister at the front of the engine bay, a yellow sensor with 2 vacuum ports in the valve cover isn’t hooked up, etc...
