    1967 barracuda leaf springs

Sounds like Super Stock Springs. I've read where people have said you can adjust the torsion bars some to help make the car set more level with the SS springs. You could try the Heavy Duty springs instead. I think they're just 2 of one side SS spring used on both sides but I'm not sure.

    4.0L HO Jeep Engine Build

I was more interested just for the sake of knowing. I guess it's just that the girdle doesn't look like much compared to the one I bought to use in my 408. My completely rebuilt 4.2 has been finished for at least a couple of years & sitting on the engine stand while I keep nursing along the...

    4.0L HO Jeep Engine Build

Is that stud girdle as light as it looks? I have a 1983 4.2 with 4.0 head & EFI. Could I just stick a factory stud girdle into my block or is there a difference in the main caps or something else that would be a problem?

    360 build info

Just an FYI. The J heads I have measured about 72cc.

    Can't burnout:(

You probably lost some of your low end torque when you changed to the 340 cam.

This has been driving me NUTS

Way to go ramcharger! It would be great for this guy to shut down the foreign car with his cheap, low tech Mopar. Of course, the Audi guy will have all kinds of excuses why his high dollar machine lost.

This has been driving me NUTS

If you can find some smaller diameter tires to put on the back for the race it would have the same effect as a lower set of gears. Maybe something on a 13" rim? Just a suggestion.

Tranny first gear combined with rear gear help

If you're asking what I think you're asking about the gear ratios...you just multiply them. A 3.08 first gear & a 3.91 rear axle gear combine to make 12.04. Is that what you're asking?

    Shortblock help

I checked a few days ago with a supplier of stroker kits & they told me the H beam rods would fit without clearancing the block. It was an eBay auction & they didn't specify whose rods they were using but I'm pretty sure they were Eagles. I've also heard that the Eagle I beam rods don't need...

anyone have a .513 lift cam and stock heads?

I think that much lift is on the VERY ragged edge of what stock heads can handle. I think you'll need to cut down the guides. I think you'll also want a stronger spring.

    stroker?

You might want to pick up a copy of the book "How to Build Big-Inch Mopar Small Blocks" by Jim Szilagyi. It'll probably answer most of your questions.

Almost street worthy. Need some suggestions.

Just looked at their website. $625 for the cheapest set I saw for your application. They were Nickle Chrome plated. I didn't see the raw steel version listed for your car. http://www.ttiexhaust.com/Header-Small%20Block/340ABE.htm

What street tires do folks recomend?

Our 2000 Dodge minivan came from the factory with Michelins. The sidewalls were cracked & looked bad long before the tread was worn out. Because of that I bought a different brand when I replaced them, but now those have been replaced with Michelins. Figured I'd give them another try. So far...

    Disappointing ET's with 408 - UPDATE

You beat the Mustang?!? But, how can that be? He has a hole cut in his hood with a big thing sticking out of it! His car has to be quicker than yours!:toothy10::toothy10::toothy10:

    Realistic estimate Please

If you're talking about the basic swap a weekend would probably be plenty of time. You'll have to get the car way up in the air if you are going to try to put the engine & trans in as a unit. I'd probably put the trans in first & go from there. It's always nice to have somebody there to help...

    How Accurate is Camquest?

It worked this time. Don't know what I did wrong before, but it always defaulted back. This time it was different.

    How Accurate is Camquest?

Is there a way to alter Camquest engine specs, like to allow for a stroker crank? I tried altering the stroke but it always defaulted back.

    head bolt bulge in runner?

Something I have always wondered about. When you guys do your bowl work do you cover the valve seats with duct tape or something to avoid damaging them or do you just use a slow speed & are REALLY careful?

    heres my combo , i need more.....help

What about a set of Edelbrock heads? That should bump up the compression ratio. He said "around 2 grand or so." Even if the TTI's come out of that, there might be enough wiggle room left in the budget for a new cam & lifters. Some kind of dual pattern that's compatible with the springs that...

    360 Intakes

Not positive, but I think that with the factory low profile air cleaner assembly the six pack will clear most stock hoods. I have an all new six pack I plan to use in my '64. Haven't mocked it up yet but I could do it sometime to get a measurement from the bottom of the manifold to the top of...

    eddy head question

I asked Edelbrock for the specs on the springs that come on their small block heads & this is what they sent me: Seat pressure @ 1.800”=120lbs. Open pressure @ 1.219”=320lbs. Installed height 1.800” Don't know if that'll be any help, but I would think the big...

Some of the parts people I've come across probably wouldn't know what a high stall torque convertor was or what it was for.

is this a good combination or am i looking for trouble

If this is a street car, is he going to be able to get by with that 10.3 to 1 compression ratio on pump gas?

Keith Black pistons VS Speed Pro for 318

Look at the piston specs for the compression distance. This is the distance from the center of the wrist pin to the top of the piston. A difference here would account for the difference in compression ratio. Although the top of the piston still travels the same distance (stroke), the size of...

    heads

Cut a piece of transparent plexiglass/plastic to a size that will cover the combustion chamber & drill a hole in it, 1/8 to 1/4 inch or there abouts. It needs to be transparent so you can make sure you don't leave any air bubbles when measuring. Turn the head upside down so the combustion...

    Next retarded question

I've never run nitrous, but going from memory of what I've read, etc........ You'll need a fuel solenoid & a nitrous solenoid, an arming switch, a bottle with valve, a "trigger" switch (usually on the linkage, to activate at WOT), the associated plumbing, a fuel system that can absolutely...

I like to post retarded questions...

Ear opening as well. I knew a guy with a blower on a 1972 Mach I Mustang. When he pulled up behind you & gunned it it sounded like it wanted to suck you into the engine. I loved it!

    Cowl induction

I did this in 1974 when the car had the stock 2 bbl. Sorry, no pics. I just added a second snorkel to the air cleaner & faced the snorkels to the rear. Then I hooked up a couple of flexible hoses from the snorkels back to the firewall. At the top of the firewall there were two openings into...
