9513 p master starter ok with my 360?

I have purchased an eon ago a power master 9513 starter through summit. Not sure their return policy...anyway, I have installed the starter with the tti headers. Nose cone starter is like a pm #9523. Clearance is one concern. They clear but so close that the rubber insulator is touching...

Can someone explain detonation vs pre ingintion

Wow. That is alot of material to digest. Thanks for the info!

Can someone explain detonation vs pre ingintion

Ok. Good info. News to me that lower octane fuel ignites easier than high octane. Good to know.

Can someone explain detonation vs pre ingintion

Ok Brian. Thank you. Question........1. If there is crappy fuel and it ignites on it own is this when the motor "diesels" when you turn it off? 2. Can it ignite during compression cycle prior to plug sparking? 3. If crappy fuel is to blame...why would it ignite with bad fuel and...

Can someone explain detonation vs pre ingintion

Trying to learn these correct terms. My understanding goes as far as spark plug ignition too soon while piston is traveling upward creating directional conflict. Is this one cause of pinging? Pre ignition or detonation.......just don't know. Clearly, I'm not an engine builder just...

oil press WAY TO HIGH during prime

Parts are reassembled. There was some difficulty removing bypass piston. Not alot, but enough to cause piston not to bypass. I can watch press gauge as bypass spring allows piston to move at about 65lbs. Wide open on drill allows press to rise close to 80psi. The current plan is when engine...

oil press WAY TO HIGH during prime

Thank you for such a fast turnaround. This information is exactly what I was asking for. When you offered I thought it was alot to ask. Nevertheless, you did the work. Awesome. With this information I will backtrack my steps and put back to original. I have a new respect for specific...

How to Install a High Press Spring in a Small Block Oil Pump

Many thanks Karl. Your time and efforts are greatly appreciated. This site has helped me more than than any single source partially due to those going the extra mile to truly help. Darrell

oil press WAY TO HIGH during prime

Thank you for your efforts. I will be at work most of the day and will return to the post later. Byw, I was quoted far mor than $7 for the hp spring kit. I will outsource using more than one price in the future. Darrell

oil press WAY TO HIGH during prime

Any additional helpful info would be appreciated. Pics or otherwise. This is the only pump I've modified. I want to do it correctly.

oil press WAY TO HIGH during prime

I may just put it back as it was. Cost. Cost of spring kit was almost as much as a new pump. I was being cheap and am paying the price for corner cutting and shade tree re-engineering. I hope returning it back corrects it all.

oil press WAY TO HIGH during prime

Its looking like my modification is the culprit. I read somewhere it was a worthwhile mod to gain a few extra psi. This pump mod is clearly uncharted territory for me. I will research better on the next one.

oil press WAY TO HIGH during prime

I am using a standard melling mv72 oil pump. Not a high volume pump......It is not by passing AT ALL. How much shim below the spring should be used to increase pressure. Is the small piston with the bypass holes in front of the spring directional? I could not tell when I replaced it. It...

oil press WAY TO HIGH during prime

Priming oil system with drill on low speed and gauge soars past 160psi. The gauge I'm using I had on old motor so I mostly trust it. Gauge on old motor never went over 50lbs. Now oil is leaking from oil filter. Thinking press damaged the filter causing it to leak. Drill barely turning runs...

kevco oil pan rear seal fit trouble

True. Its a little bent from the fab. Overall not a big deal imo....good eye though. 1quickScamp nailed it. Pan will be on TONIGHT

kevco oil pan rear seal fit trouble

You got it 1qwikScamp. Pic shows 4 rear bolts in and it drew down as you said. I will take apart and use the sealant as aid in needed areas. I am surprised as I did not want to wreck this new part. I need to add some more "git er done" to my tool box to push this project through. As...

kevco oil pan rear seal fit trouble

Wow. Good call on the question. Not sure I even have the box or literature anymore. I do keep all receipts though. I will look it up and look for a part number. I am sure I ordered a 360 pan as that is what I have. Getting back to original question....can I SUCCESSFULLY use ultra grey gasket...

kevco oil pan rear seal fit trouble

Rear rubber seal to oil pan doesn't fit well. Can I SUCCESSFULLY use ultra grey gasket maker in place of the rubber oil seal piece? Measuring the kevko pan proves to be: 1. 1/8" shorter from flat area to deepest point. 2. 1/8" shorter in opening width of rear seal opening. 3. 5/16"...

    windage tray question

How mandatory is the windage tray in my build? The build (73 dart full interior) being built for acceleration blasts. I've purchased the kevco oil pan & related pick up assy. I do not have windage tray. Was hoping the magic design of the kevco oil pan would take care of my windage tray...

cam degee confirmation based on photo

True bad sport paid $ to balance, degree and assemble long block. I thought special push rods had to be measured and ordered w my rhs heads and prw rocker arm kit. They said stock push rods fit. List of work yes. Never rec my balance records I requested. No clearances

cam degee confirmation based on photo

Thank you...Yes head engine shop mechanic stated this gear set up was spot on for being zero when degree wheel was installed. I think maybe he went the wrong way. Rusty stated well to learn how on my own...Great advise. Yes again on multiple settings...a2-a8 and r2-r8. Ultimately want whats...

cam degee confirmation based on photo

Wow rusty, you should be a degree wheel salesman...I am sold that you are correct. I have simply paid a shop to do the work and now find myself not completely trusting their work. (They messed up on a prev motor & skipped my oil dripper and hole in cam thrust bolt on this one) This is great...

cam degee confirmation based on photo

Ok. I was hoping for more given the marks on the crank gear. Engine builder was asked to set up 2° advanced. Seeing r2 crank gear location used got me wondering. Therefore I made the post.
  29. 360moparjunkie

cam degee confirmation based on photo

Is it possible that cam is degreed 2* advanced and r2 positioning on the crank gear is being used to achieve this?

cam degee confirmation based on photo

Unfortunately I have no degree wheel. Looking at marks it appers as though 2* retarded is where its at. Engine builder did compliment new billet gears by saying zero was exacly on mark when setting up cam w degree wheel. Previous parts I supplied were 7* off I was told.
