Purolator PureOne PL14670, about $7 at Pep Boys. Many here use WIX from NAPA, can't remember the part # offhand, sure someone will chime in with it.

Build or buy a clone Hemi Dart

BrianT has that right. Take a good look at that Ebay post. Then contact ssandafx.com for the whole lowdown on what's involved. There is no question that they are the premier builder of LO23 clones. Real ones will cost more...

    My new ride

So what you have there is like a low 13 second (high 12?), beater/grocery/parts getter? I want it! Great score! I'm totally jealous. :burnout:

What kind of oil filter do you guys use?

Yeah, but i'd trust those 74 WIX way more than your expensive stainless SCREEN. Oh, and I can stick a magnet on the WIX ,too!

Question about SB rocker arm shafts

Not necessarily true, I've seen the 273 rockers on non-grooved shafts. Granted, there's been a loooonnngg period of time for them to have been swapped, but I have seen them come out of a 273 without grooves.

    Mopar 318 'High Performance' vs Chevy 327/250 HP ~ 327/275 HP ~ 350/255 HP

My only question is, "What 318 high performance?". I have no doubt about 318's abilities, but what the hell are we talking about? I've had lots of good running 318s, but I also remember a 1970 350 2barrel 250HP Impala in the family that ran real well.

Rust Oleum red oxide for your motor?

Glyptal is the stuff I remember people using. And I too, would be curious how that holds up over time. Sure as hell, plenty have done it for many years.

    Another Craigs lister on Crack

I'd say he MUST prove the provenance on that car. I've seen a number of MUCH nicer '64s in the last year for quite a bit less. I've been looking at '64s in particular for a while and seem to remember seeing that for sale a while back, for less and wasn't real impressed then, either. I think...

    your thoughts on this Scamp

I'd bet it's a 904 with a 7-1/4" rear, pegleg. $7000??? Where? The last 25 years of tires, maintenance and insurance? A friend of mine has almost that exact car ('71, Sassy Grass, Black vinyl top, 318, AC, etc.), with 69K on the clock, used by a lot of people at Carlisle as a reference car...

How was it in the 60s-80s?

I don't see any reason they can't be driven anywhere. I just think a lot of us always have something that needs attention, because not everything on the car is fresh. For example,I have no idea how old or how many miles are on my alternator. I have an electronic ignition, a good cooling...

    Pinks All Out Coming Back

I'm with Pettybludart on this... Rich Christianson is a goof, but I've never seen so many people at an event outside the Nationals. It's a long tough day for all, and most go home without anything but a couple of timeshots, but it's totally grassroots, everybody hoping "to make the show"...

Fastest Street Cars In Your Town, 'Back In The Day'

Nice to see this thread revived. I grew up in a relatively small town just north of Philadelphia. I gotta say, when I was a child that place was motorhead nirvana. There was all kinds of stuff running around. In the early 60's Billy Neal was featured in the Max Wedge advertising, he...

Why so many cars ending up like this

His problem is that he has that late model Mustang in the other bay that needs nothing but to go have fun in it... And probably too much else vying for his time... Looks worthwhile to me though.

    why do i even care

This much I know... My '70 Dart started life as a slant 6 auto...F8 Green... VIN# LL23C0R, which tells plenty, but not nearly enough. I don't have a fender tag or build sheets. None of it is important as the car is so far from stock, but I'd still like to know what was what, originally...

Good one brother! Teach the youngin's how to blow their mufflers apart (the one's drivin' old carbureted stuff)...Oh and it helps pumping the **** outta the pedal while you're at it! All kidding aside, one of my buddies just got pulled over doing it in his old D350... If yer lookin' for...

    '100' Fastest Mopars 1962 thru 1971

Well Hey 69, Glad I was able to help you feel good about yourself. I seem to remember Goo as a good ole boy, a real nice guy. I can think of plenty of worse things to be. I don't come here to impress anyone, or to hear myself. (Oh, and you know what they say about arguing/fighting on the...

20 Muscle Cars That Made History

Well... I do have a local old guy (70+) driving around in a CTS-V pushing 800+ at the wheels... Oh yeah, it IS totally bad ***! don't f*ck with him! (oh, and when I was a little kid he was piloting a dragmaster chassis, 6-71 blown SBC fueler, early '60s)

    Early A-body vs Later A-body

Apparently I'm a Dart guy, I've had '70,'71 and '72. like the '70-'71 grill better than '72. Had them in reverse order, currently have the '70. I think the '69 340 advertising got me as an 8 year old. 6000RPM-$3000! Even then I knew the lightest car with the right powerplant was the ticket...
