    Pinion bearing install question...

Looks like you got it right, but i would smack it a few times with a mallet and see if the preload is the same.

Call summit and save yourself some money,I think 2700 is a little high for your cam and gear selection. I think a summit brand converter SUM-G2709-12 is around 200 bucks 2000-2200 stall. That is for a 727,I didn't see what transmission your using or HUP-27-20 for the 904 $235.00 2000 stall.

    accumulator spring?

Many things can cause an early upshift, i think i would have tried checking or adjusting the throttle linkage first. Leaving the accumulator spring will not cause and early upshift, sounds like a pressure problem to me. Also the governor and rear differential gear plays a big part on when it...

    518 overdrive will not disengage

Your problem is inside the transmission ,take the v.b down and check the o/d valve in front of the solenoid. If it is not stuck you may have problem with the converter. If you disconnect the elec plug and you still have o/d the problem is inside the transmission. Sounds like the governor is...

    99 Ram trans problem

Sounds like an engine running problem if it only does it in the morning. I agree with checking codes before throwing parts at it.

518 short shifts and no od

You might have to change the position of the cable so it pulls from the idle position to wot. The throw on the carb or t.v lever needs to be adjusted so when you step on the throttle the cable moves from idle to wot. This needs to be done first before you can adjust the line pressure properly...

518 short shifts and no od

Take the slack out of the cable,if it is to tight it will upshift late. As soon as you move the throttle the t.v bracket should be moving on the transmission.

518 short shifts and no od

The rear gear selection maybe giving you a problem if you have steep gears like 4:10's 4:56's etc,it will up shift quicker than most stock 3:55 in most trucks. If your not getting a down shift your pressure is to low(after reading the first post). Raise the line pressure,if the line pressure...

518 short shifts and no od

If it is a non lock up unit you need the 2 wire connector just behind the manual linkage hooked up for overdrive. The 1-2 shift is correct at 20 mph at light throttle an 3rd should be about 30 mph or so. If you let it shift from 1-2 then mash the throttle to the floor it should down shift to...

Question on fitting modern trans in 71 Demon

There are photos of the transmission installed on the 42rh/a500 on the above posts. I have installed the a500 in my 70 dart with out cutting the floor. You will have to cut the cross member on the upper side even if you do a 2004r. I have seen both done and i think the a500/a518 would be...

    8.75 pinion torq specs.

A crush sleeve is a one time use! Install a new crush sleeve and do it right,or install new pinion bearings later on or after it fails. I think a new crush sleeve is cheap insurance.:D

After looking that is an AMC bell housing.

    Need a price for a SB 727

I would start at $250 anything more your taking your chances if it needs to be opened up. If you don't have a converter you will pay the core charge when you buy a new one unless you buy from summit or jegs and i'm not sure if they have a core charge either.:D

    TCI Transmission is bad

It was definitely tested, there was fluid in the valve body channels and the accumulator/actuator bores. I figured for what they charge they would put in the manual valve for the converter charge in park. They drilled some holes and jacked the main line pressure way up.

    TCI Transmission is bad

If you guys can find another source for transmissions i would. The transmission for strightlinespeed is why TCI has a bad name, after you fry the transmission you sent it back to them on your dime and they say you installed it wrong and they want you to pay again to fix it. The problem with...

    Tranny pan install

If your transmission shop is using silicone to seal transmission pans with a gasket and silicone i would find another shop to do your work. Some of the new transmissions silicone is used only to seal the transmission pan and there is no gasket, but if a transmission shop put silicone on my 727...

    Tranny pan install

Most any gasket will seal as long as you knock the dimples out of the pan first before you install the new gasket. No silicone is needed with any transmission pan gasket!!:banghead:

    What shift kit?

Fishy,i have more than one problem with Gil Younger products over the last 18 years as a rebuilder. When sonnax came out with there products it fixed a lot of pressure problems in the valvebody, that most shift kits did not address in there kits. After putting stiff springs behind worn out...

    What shift kit?

I use sonnax stuff at work alot. My experience is that if you have a good valvebody a TF-2 kit works good. If you have a worn out valvebody a TF-2 kit will make you pull your hair out!! I have had good luck with both, more to building valvebodys than throwing in some springs and drilling holes...

What the hell is going on with shops?

NOT in any labor guide does it show fixing broken bolts and studs in your rusty car or truck,or repairing someone idea of the proper "fix". I think some one should look at the written estimate before driving the bus over repair techs and shop owners. This is my saying "i didn't buy it and i...

What the hell is going on with shops?

Just looked at the transmission book and it said with a 5.7 in a 2005 dodge 1500 it has a 545rfe which is a solenoid block and that is not a $110.00 dollar part,i think it is closer to $400.00. If the shop is going to warranty the repair i would assume they will be replacing the solenoid block...

    do I need K12900E-4 for 68 904 rebuild?

Some times all you need are the basics,if it was running and driving. Don't skimp on the spring and rollers.12654 If there was a lot of metal i would replace the converter. T22165 is highly recommended for your build

    do I need K12900E-4 for 68 904 rebuild?

I would tear down your transmission before you order your parts. You may need other things that the kit does not have. Have you tried Transtar? Whatever it takes(WIT) and Transtar are the two main distributors for transmission parts,i personally use Transtar at work for my rebuilds and if you...

Issue with kickdown using BPE cable kit

The yellow spring is for the tv valve according to the tf1 directions,it states "use yellow or pink tv spring that is the same diameter as the original spring" Fishy is right, there is no change on the converter valve spring. If you put that stiff yellow spring on the converter valve o don't...

Issue with kickdown using BPE cable kit

If you used the TF2 you installed the blue spring in the pressure regulator valve, stick with what the directions say.The FSM is for stock valvebodys and the stock regulator spring. I don't think you will notice any difference on the accumulator spring in or leave it out debate that you see a...
