Ya like someone said, racing isn’t like it used to be.

GTX, I think class racing is waning somewhat in your area maybe. Here in the midwest its still pretty strong. Granted, we havent lost as many tracks as the west has, but they still show up at the association races and divisionals around here. I feel bad for the racers that dont have venues...

    TNT'ers think they are racers

Fully understand the premise of OP's rant, but do not begrudge the TNT guy's one bit. I know that brackets are boring. I know most TNT guys don't give a damn about reaction times. I'm a bracket racer and I love the challenge of a good light and driving the stripe. I also understand wanting to...

    Safety factors

Many Super Stock mopars in the 8's on stock front susp. Many stock mopars in the 9's on stock susp. Needn't worry about it till you're going way faster than that, IMO

    the best 440 heads

Tens are still feasable at that altitude. May require more cubes, more compression, lighter weight car. Still boils down to $$$ you want, or can spend. A good head is a necessity at altitude. More air is more power. Good luck with your build. Show us some time slips when you are done.

    the best 440 heads

So, mopar426, I think the consensus here is that 10's are reachable with iron heads. It may be easier with a nice aluminum head, but it all boils down to your goals with your car. Is it street/strip, strip only or other? What is your budget? Weight, suspension, tire? I know there are a lot of...

    the best 440 heads

there are quite afew guys running mid tens with good ole 906's or 915's or 452's. I've done it with 2 different engines in a 3300 lb. car. didn't seem that difficult or exspensive.

    is gear to much

I run same gear and same tire. 440 with 5500 convertor. 6800 rpm in 1/4. 6400 in 1/8. I say run it like it is. Shouldn't hurt a well built motor.

    Perf. Tips Dart Drag Car

I don't see a problem with pwrglide choice. My 3300 lb car picked up three tenths when I switched from TF. Tenth and 1/2 just in 60 ft.

    Few Questions,

Looser convertor and lower rear gear. Higher launch RPM also.

    autolite plugs

Thanks for your input guys. I found that NGK B7S & B8S plugs are cross to Autolites. I have always had good luck with NGK plugs, so going to stay with them. Have several buds who swear by Autolite, and others in the NGK camp.If this switch doesn't work, then Autolites it is.

    autolite plugs

Which NGK is colder? I dont find a B-6 or a B-7. The way I understand NGK heat range is higher number is colder.

    autolite plugs

Does anyone use Autolite plugs in their big block iron heads. If so, which one? I use NGK now. Would like to switch to colder plug. Using B-4 NGK.

    Super Gas

All this being said, if you are going to make an attempt at super gas racing, then you need to be able to do these few things very well. First, you need a car that can react "red" every run. Then be able to back it down. Either with delay box or other ways. Next, you need car that will run 9.90...

    Super Gas

To clear up reaction time question. As an example, when you see that a guy has a .423 reaction time, that means he was .023 from a perfect .400 reaction,(using a 4 tenths pro tree). I think you may be thinking back to the old way they used to represent reaction times on the old chrondek style...
  26. B

    Super Gas

The .4 reaction times you were seeing are common because super gas is run on a .400 pro tree. If you are not .400 something on the tree, you are going home. .3-- something is a red light. You will want to do some serious homework before jumping in to super class racing. Very competitive, and very...
