High mount water pump body/timing cover???

You mentioned the only numbers you could find on the block were F6P5816....A typical engine (atleast in US) would have identification embossed right into the casting on the side of the block. Not sure about yours though...unfamiliar territory to me being that its industrial aswell as not from...

High mount water pump body/timing cover???

did a quick google search on a marine 318 engine and came up with this (which I am assuming is what you are describing) and from the pictures I am seeing of them....they were painted the "ford blue" you speak of. sounds like you have a marine 318 to me.

paint on the inside of heads flaking

Agreed, that paint will get sucked right to the bottom of the pickup which means no oil flow to the engine. can plug oil galleys to bearings, can plug up lifters.can get in between bearings and bearing surfaces and make a super heated goo that wipes out the engine...all sorts of stuff can happen...

Stroker engine "diesels" after I shut it down

as others have mentioned it could be a timing issue.....but to step outside the box I will mention a couple other things. normally when I have had this happen (on any engine for that matter) its a problem with current in the system back feeding. more often than not I find it to be faulty wiring...

    Knock and smoke

Bummer! This is why normally when I find similar problems, I shut the engine down and don't run it until I run through the paces with diagnosing and have a good idea of whats going on. That way IF there is a problem, I can possibly fix it before causing more damages and costing more $$$ Which...

    Knock and smoke

Hard to tell for sure by your video becuase I cant make out anything other than exhaust sound. like already mentioned, white smoke is normally coolant...( but it COULD be raw gas not burning off) (which also would contribute to the gas smelling oil. what size carb? do you have to poundage set...

    340 oil pressure ( Help )

I built a 388 lt1 stroker for a firebird I had a few years back and bought all new bearings for it......put it all together and it ended up having a mean knock to it. turned out that the cam that was in it had progressively been machined. (standard, next journal was .010 under, next was .020...

    340 oil pressure ( Help )

    340 oil pressure ( Help )

have you pulled a VC to see if your getting any oil up top? are you sure your gauge is functioning properly? do you have and electric oil gauge or a mechanical? if its mechanical,do you have the style with the semi clear plastic oil line? if so can you see oil flowing through it? did you by...

    /6 to 318

even the best of us can be a little slow at times lol...don't sweat it. hope you get figured out what you have planned for the 318 swap.

    /6 to 318

and the matching "flex plate" which like mentioned is where the confusion came into play lol ....not flywheel like a stick would use.
  16. Dusterdude72

    /6 to 318

no...the auto's are all one single casted housing...no removable bell housing. you will need an entire transmission from a v8 car.
  17. Dusterdude72

    /6 to 318

If your talking auto ( I don't think you are though) then it wont work....you would need a small block 904/727. however though, I don't see why with a stick car you couldnt pick up a v8 bellhousing and flywheel and what not and be just fine. the slant 6 tranny might have a lower set of gear...

    help on performance decision

lots of other stuff to think about. any work done to the heads? headers? whats it got for a cam? lifters? rockers? valves? and so on... whats your ultimate goal? to build a peppy 318 and keep it or to make the 318 a little quicker to tide you over until you can snag a different engine? I...

Out with the 318 in with?

like has been said....$1,000.00 really won't get you very far when it comes to buying and engine....let alone building one and even more so if you plan on having machine work done. just pep up the 318 and drive it while you save your pennys until you can afford to stick another engine on a...

    foot pump windsheild washer

first I would inspect the lines for dry rot...and as was mentioned the old lines form fit to the stretched size of the nipple after being there for so long...so it wouldnt be a bad idea to cut off about a half inch from the ends of the lines where they connect to the ports ....that will get you...

    Dumb Question

Come to think of it....( not sure if I am just making myself think this or if this is what actually happened.....been a couple years ago since I built it now ) when I put my dusters engine in ... ( I had ran it to tdc,cam dot at 6 o'clock and crank dot at 12 o'clock) I think I recall that I...

    Intake Manifold Gasket Question

I have used them and I have also used just RTV and so far have had good luck with both. however....even when I do use cork end gaskets I still smear them down with silicone for better adhesion. but I don't think you will have a problem with just rtv. ( I also put a thin smear of rtv around my...

    Sputtering 318! Please help

I would do plugs anyhow.....there is such thing as "new junk" too lol......and depending on if you drive alot in hot summer days or if you have headers or manifolds or drove it hot before or whatever.....you COULD have cracked a plug (seen it happen before) also seen cheap plugs burn the...

    Lifting 318... please help!

also, I do not suggest using a tow strap or anything unless it is a seriously serious strap lol.....you don't want to risk your engine or your safety by using improper tools. also, do not try using a come along hoist as they are meant to pull....not lift. ....I have done it before in a pinch...

    Lifting 318... please help!

I always take and put an exhaust bolt through a large chain and thread the bolt into one of the exhaust holes on the front of one side of the engine....and then I do the same thing on the opposite side but to the rear of the engine your going to also want to use washers so your bolt head will...
