I have used spray can clear on intakes in the past and it did turn yellow after some run time. It also stained easily when gas gets dripped on it. This last round I used my spray gun to shoot base and clear but have not run it yet to see if there are any issues. The local shop that I purchase my...
Hellcats have a blower, mine is the standard version and only has 707HP and 650 lb-ft. The newer redeye version has 797HP.
The scat packs are NA and put out 485HP and 475 lb-ft.
The 392 Scat Packs run very well! There is a very nice B5 Scat challenger A8 that runs at Sonoma. He is consistently running 11.90’s and is stock other than drag radials!
Yes, the hellcats are very heavy! Mine weighs in at 4600 lbs with me in it and only runs a measly 11.1 at 125 MPH stock. Sure there are faster cars out there but I enjoy the fact that I can drive it to the track with the AC and tunes on, run low 11’s then drive it home! I also use this as my...
What’s the casting date on that timing cover? I have 2 67 date code covers that use the separate sheet metal tab and 2 68 date code covers with the cast in marker. Have been looking for a 67 cover with the cast on marker but not sure they exist.
I believe it depends on the build date of your car. I have seen early build (1967) with the bolt on tab and later 68 340’s with the timing cover with the cast in timing marker.
I think 2,400 RPM is a good starting point for a flash stall with this cam. My experience with B&M and their rated stall speed wasn’t very good but their quality may have improved over the last 20 years since I ran mine. Lots of factors come into play like motor torque, vehicle weight, rear gear...
I would buy a better torque converter if you can afford it. We used a protorque on my buddy’s car and it has been pretty impressive, high flash stall speed and not loose when you are driving normal.
Similar to my set-up. I also had x heads, HP manifolds and and the Weiand action plus 8007 intake. Tried 2 carbs, a 650 double pumper and a carter 600 AFB. Mine ran best with the carter.
Yes, it was a B & M holeshot and really didn’t stall any higher than a stock replacement converter. I ended up building another 340 years later with the 284 purple shaft and switched over to a Fairbanks converter. Much higher flash stall but very sloppy on the street.
I ran that exact cam in my 68 340 barracuda back in the 1990’s with 9 to 1 compression, low first gear 904 trans with a garbage B & M torque converter and 3.55 gears. Used it as my daily driver for many years. Ran hard and had a great muscle car idle.
Yes, no doubt all of your cars run well and are nearly a second faster in the 1/4 than mine as I could only muster up an 11.47 @118 with a 1.64 60'. The shorter runner length and taller port cross section in the victor didn't work well in the lower RPM range on my particular combo. Even tried 4...
I recently installed an aftermarket cam in my 06 SRT8 charger and ran it catless for 1 week. Smell at idle was pretty bad. Installed 3" Magnaflow spun metallic high flow cats and the smell is now gone with no loss in 1/4 mile performance.
Agreed, just sharing my experience between a 340 and 372 CID small block. I also changed to a small solid flat tappet cam and Unported edelbrock heads, everything else stayed the same. These are both 91 octane pump gas motors.
