Anyone tried one of these HEI Distributors?

I'm quite the neophyte here , esp when electronics are involved ; however , please permit me to offer the following : - Have you been affording the gas pedal a bit more largesse because of a power increase (real or perceived) ? - Torrance is in L.A.'s "South Bay" (e.g. , beach city for our...

    Brake Light Switch Adjustment ??

doug 371 : Thanks for your reply and support :thumblef: ! I found out that the switch --the new one I got from work-- is junk (see original post for the update ). I'm going to see if I can take the whole mess over to my friends' house tomorrow morning and fool with it there . He has a garage...

    Brake Light Switch Adjustment ??

mcnoople : Thanks much for taking the time to reply :thumblef: . I'm going to just take my car to a shop near my house , and see if they can ascertain whether or not the new switch is faulty or if there's another mitigating problem . It's extremely difficult for me to work on my car in this...

    Brake Light Switch Adjustment ??

--->Update : Junk Switch !<--- **Ends up that the switch is junk ; the shaft (the interrupter) is bent . Getting a freshie for tomorrow a.m. from work . My main ***** is that these are a mother****er to remove from the bracket , and a joy to reinstall .** This lack of brake lights is really...

    What Size (width) Fuses ???

Thanks for your reply . BUSS is just the name of the manufacturer , isn't it ? There are 2 glass tube fuse styles around , but one style --and product i.d. number-- is slightly shorter than the other , and that .25 inch makes a difference .

    What Size (width) Fuses ???

For the life of me , I cannot recall what fuses I'm supposed to use in my '72 Coronet ! Of course I know that it uses the glass tube type ; however , there are different lengths of the damned things ! There's something like AGC and AEG or something ... Can someone please clarify this for me...

    *Potentially* Stupid Question

What are the symptoms of a bad mag pickup in the factory elect ignition ? I've been operating classic MoPars since 1988 (learned to drive in a friend's '73 Duster 340 / T-Flite !) , and every one of 'em had ballast resistor problems (1969 Swinger 340 [converted], 1972 Swinger [converted] ...

    *Potentially* Stupid Question

With all of the trouble that those fabulous Ballast Resistors threaten our MoPars with , I've recently wondered about preventative measures ... I've seen some aerosol "Electronics Sealer" at work , and it got me thinking : Would its application on a Ballast Resistor help prevent it from...

    Autozone distrubutor vacuum advance locked?

There are different vacuum advance amplifier numbers as well . Look on the advance's body ; if you see , say "13" , that means , iirc , 13 degrees at the dist , and 26 degrees at the crank (or vice-versa ... too early for me to think right now :happy2: . ) And a heads-up : practically every...

Custom Lenses (anyone try doing it?)

SlantSixDan - Thanks for the links ! Great work there ; absolutely perfect ! (super clean '71 Dart and Lancer , too ! ). Your points are exactly what I was trying to convey :D ! Thanks much for adding to this topic :glasses7:. Another benefit to ambre signals / hazards is that if some oatmeal...

Custom Lenses (anyone try doing it?)

I've long maintained that turn signal / hazard lamps should be ambre-coloured on the taillights . To me , red signifies "STOP!" , not "caution" ; a flashing red light for a lane change makes no sense to me . With this in mind , I've always wondered what it would take to make custom tail light...

    weird gremlin

Yep , it's a fuse . My Coronet did this same damned thing a few months ago .

Advantages of dual ballast over single??

the 4-prong ballast resistor was used in factory-installed "Breakerless Ignition" systems from Chrysler . The ohms are different from top-to-bottom , side-to-side ; both sides still function in a "start" and "run" capacity , just as a 2-prong ( e.g. , breaker point ) ignition . For reasons of...

should i run without vacuum advance?

make sure that the vacuum is properly ported , too . it's connected to the Air Horn portion of the carb , at least on BBD Carter 2 Bbl's .
