This is a 7.25 isnt it?

    I'm not sure if it was covered, but 7 1/4's have 9 bolts, 8 1/4's have 10.

    kickdown linkage help

I went with a Lokar set up. It was some what easy to do, and looks a whole lot better. It took me awhile to dial it in, due to the fact that I have a shift kit in my 904.

Will any drive shaft fit my Dart Swinger?

My 8 1/4 axle is done and painted. Now, I'm trying to save a buck or two. I was at the junk yard a couple weeks ago and noticed a couple of late 70's and early 80's Fury's with 360/904's and 8 1/4 rears. I was wondering if those drive shafts would bolt into in my Dart? It was just an idea.

    Idea on speedo gear?

I was hoping someone could help me on figuring out what speedometer gear I need. I have 205/70 14 on the front, and 235/60 14 on the rear. All four rims are 14x7. The trans is a 904 and my rear is an 8 1/4 with 3.55's. Thanks, Mick

Need help w/ rear axle rebuild.

Never mind, I got it figured out. The bolt broke in side the pin.

Need help w/ rear axle rebuild.

I just read an article from mopar muscle about the 8 1/4 rebuild. They mentioned removing the pin before the end caps. I removed the end caps before removing the bolt the keeps the pin in. Is this the issue? If I put the caps back on, would the pin come out?

Need help w/ rear axle rebuild.

I found a carrier for my 8 1/4 rebuild. Since the current 8 1/4 has 245 gears, I need to replace the carrier with 276 or lower. I found a donor car in a junk yard with the carrier I need. The only problem is the center pin doesnt want to come out. Its the only thing that is holding me up. Does...

    7 1/4 behind 340

I'm running a fresh (with in the past 2 years) 360 with a cam, headers, and carb with a stock 7 1/4. Just listen to what people have to say, keep it cool off the line. I'm waiting for mine to go out so I can put the 8 1/4 in that I have in the garage.

    Advice for 8 1/4 axles.

I will be taking my 8 1/4 to a local shop to install new 321's. He says he wants the axles out of the rear. Is this easy to do, and what do I have to know when I take them out and more importantly put back in with fresh gears? I dont want to hurt anything. Any help or advice is greatly...

    8 1/4 center section question.

Just got off the phone with the guy, all it needs is new bearings. The limited slip and gears look good. All for $70.00. I'm going to pick it up next week.

    8 1/4 center section question.

Good question, I'm pretty sure that all rear ends have 3rd members. I'm going to call this guy in regards to it.

    8 1/4 center section question.

I have a 360 w/ a 904 currently. I am also driving around with the original 7 1/4 rear with 273 gears. The 8 1/4 that I will be replacing currently has 245 gears. I was told that I had to get a new 3rd member to do the gear change. I found a guy selling a 3rd member out of the Diplomat with 293...

    8 1/4 center section question.

I'm looking at a 8 1/4 limited slip 3rd member out of a 79 Diplomat. It's for my 8 1/4 rear end in my 75 Dart. any ideas?

    904 to 727

My Scamp (318, 904 combo) took ALOT of abuse. When I sold the car, the rear end was going out and the motor was blowing smoke out the exhaust. the only thing that was decent was the 904. I have a lot of respect for the 904. Especially when you put a 18-19 year old kid behind the wheel.

    Kick down question?

I have the Lokar throttle cable and the Lokar kick down cable. I was wondering if I need the spring that would hook to the carb and to the bracket that is typically located at the front of the manifold? Any thoughts?

    speedometer issue

My speedometer doesn't work. It did work when I pulled the /6 motor and trans. I then took the gear out of the /6 904 trans. and put it in my 904 360 trans. when I hooked the cable up I thought I was good to go. Is there something else I need, or failed to do? Are these trans gears compatible...

    How do I adjust trans?

My car won't start. Checked wiring to nuetral safety, and checked the kuetral safety, and that is all good. How do I adjust the linkage or tranny so it will turn over?

    Are 2.45 gears bad?

A lot of good feed back. Thanks guys, and keep the comments coming. It's good to hear both sides.

    Are 2.45 gears bad?

The only other mopar I had was a 72 Scamp with a 318. granted it wasn't a power house car, but after I had a shift kit put in, it would take some punishment. From brake stands to high r.p.m. shifts, it would hold up. I was impressed with it. I don't know what type of gears where in it.
  28. Mick Semantel

    Are 2.45 gears bad?

My kind of guy. I'm going to stick with the 8 1/4, and put the 3.55's in. Car wont see more then 500 mi. in one season. The car wont exceed 300-350 horse (at it's peak), and it won't be "officially" a racer on the track. It is a street car, and won't be abused.

    Are 2.45 gears bad?

Thanks for all of the advice. I'll shop around for an 8 3/4. It just seem's that the people who have the 8 3/4 rears want a small fortune for them. I paid about 200.00 for the 8 1/4.

    Are 2.45 gears bad?

Out of curiosity, how much (roughly)would a job like that cost?
