do you have timing cover off ? if ya do put sealant around it shove it in .... take something and bell the end in the bottom of the hole ..........wont pull out that way .......

start it up pull a plug wire ..nope not it... go to next one find the hole that its in, narrow your search. flex plate cracks can be hard to spot if up by the crank .

most likely problem is out of alignment get out a straight edge an make sure your pullys are inline ..... new belts old belts dont really matter all that much... you have some thing out of alignment ....

i take its a hdy cam ... i dont no the stock length off hand so my bag ...but you could use adj rockers .... your push rods should turn an your rockers will have a little side to side movement ... do ya have enough oil pressure ? just trying to fine some more info to help ...

my 528 purple cam has duel springs i bought comp springs an retainers keepers .... what about the converter your going to have to run with that much cam.... hows the compression 10.5 or better just a few ? for thought .... big cams dont make you fast unless the combination is right ..

if you can move it 1/4 of an inch theres most likely not much thrust bearing left , the reason for its wear is it a manual trans or was the clutch every time you push the peddle adds to the wear of the thrust bearing , a hard shifting automatic will cause some extra wear or just a plain tired...

well fire the dart up the other day was going to go for a ride .had the battery all charge up ,oil cked trans ck,water ck ,oil pressure good . so while its warming up i see a little coolant on the shop floor . well where is this coming from it not in frt of motor just had all the freeze plugs...

clean the bolt holes an use it ;it will be fine ... make sure the oil galley plugs are all in ...happy motoring
