Ok folks.....I have a 1975 Duster with a 360 with an 833 4-speed with a 3.91 gear. I want to put an overdrive in it for cruising purposes. I have purchased a 518(46RH) that came out of a 93 Dakota with a 318 in it. My question is, can I use the torque converter that came with it behind my LA...

    USCT Crossmember for 518

The USCT website says that you have to cut the channel out, but the floor does not have to be cut according to them. I sent them a message asking if I could get a copy of the instructions that are provided with the crossmember as I think it would be very helpful.

    USCT Crossmember for 518

Well, the bad thing is, the car was originally a /6 auto....My 360 and 833 setup was added, so the floor is not the manual tranny floor. I've not looked at the Passon unit, but did the Gear Vendors unit. The idea of the GV unit is wonderful as it would give you TONS of variations. I'm just...

    Drivetrain/Tire size Calculator

I found this Excel file that is a wonderful Gear ratio and tire size calculator. Tells you the size of your tire, and the RPM's at any given speed. Even gives you the proper number teeth for your speedo gear. Unzip the file and check it out.

    8 3/4 pad placement

Actually, I was just wondering......this rear end is destined to be sold when I'm done with it(489 case).....Just tore it apart tonight, and have to figure out if the gears are worn out as I think the pinion has too much slop. Someone has had it apart as it had a bad stud and RTV for a seal...

    8 3/4 pad placement

just got an 8 3/4 that came out of a 72 half ton. It appears to me that the pads for the leaf springs are on the wrong side. The pads have the flats on top, and i thought they should be on the bottom. Can you put a case on upside down to the housing?

    8 3/4 posi unit change

I could have been wrong.....Bought the rear from another guy, thought he said 200....must have been a 100. Just have to figure out what to do with the rear end when I'm done with it.

    8 3/4 posi unit change

Then I would lose the Sure Grip.....which I would like to keep. The 3.91 (installed in the car) has the sure grip, the donor rear end with the 3.23 does not. I've not taken either of them apart yet, just inquiring on doing this. To be honest, I've never taken changed a set of gears before, so...

    8 3/4 posi unit change

So, it would be the same as just changing the gears. I was hoping I could take the Sure-grip unit out of one and put it in the other.

    8 3/4 posi unit change

I currently have an 8 3/4 with a 489 case with a set of 3.91 gears and a posi unit installed. I am wanting the make the car (75 Duster) a bit more friendly on the highway by installing a set of 3.23 gears. I have a complete rear end out of a D200 with a 489 case that has the gears, but it does...

    WHICH REAR TO INSTALL????

Ok, Folks....Looking for a little help. I have a 75 Plymouth Scamp that I'm building. It was a 6 cyl car, but now it's destined to have a Stroker 360 put into it in the next year or two. My dilemma......I know that the rear in this car is NEVER going to hold the power that this motor is going...
