    Bad sensor or bad gauge?

Pulled the old sending unit out and no tape on it. Threw a new sending unit in it and it still had the same problem. Checked the ground on the gauges just for fun and it’s fine. I’m at a loss here. Only thing I could think of is I just got a bad gauge.

    Bad sensor or bad gauge?

I did a fair amount of plumbing work at my last job so there is a good chance I put tape on the threads here too.

I’ll grab another sensor this week and throw it on.

    Bad sensor or bad gauge?

It would stay at zero until I grounded the wire then it would jump to max. Dumb question here but what is the correct way to wire the sender? It’s similar to this one but it has a black insulator instead of white.

    Bad sensor or bad gauge?

Aftermarket autometer. Factory gauge bit the dust so I’ve been relying on this one. I need to fix the OEM gauge but that doesn’t seem like a quick project.

    Bad sensor or bad gauge?

My temperature gauge is reading 230°. I put the temp gun on it and the actual temperature is 160. I grounded the wire from the sensor and it maxed out which tells me the gauge is working. Does this sound like a sensor issue or gauge issue.

Fan shroud that will fit this radiator?

Back for a good update. Put a thermostat in the car and let it run in the driveway for 39 minutes. The temp gauge read 230 but the fluid wasn’t moving which was odd. Upper radiator hose was warm but not hot. Finally the thermostat opened but the gauge stayed at 230. Put the IR gun on it and it...

Do you run that gasket with the o-ring?

    Billet Specialties Thermostat Housing?

I’m throwing in the towel on my cheap thermostat housing. Im tired of chasing leaks. I see some recommendations on here for the billet specialties O-ring type housing and was curious if anyone had any negative things to say about it.

Is it time for a new radiator?

Little bit of both Rusty. Went over today to take the thermostat out to see if maybe it was stuck close. I was going to put it in a bowl of hot water to see if it opened but I found there was no thermostat. I’ll be putting a new one in when my thermostat housing comes in. Next on the list is to...

Fan shroud that will fit this radiator?

No spring in the bottom and a 16 PSI cap. I recon I should go down to a 14 psi cap at the most and try to find a hose with a spring in it. Most parts stores don’t seem to sell them with a spring anymore.

Fan shroud that will fit this radiator?

I am replacing the belts on the car so whenever I get back over there to put them on I’ll pull that bottom hose off and see if there’s a spring in it.

Fan shroud that will fit this radiator?

The funny thing about it is the car can sit and idle for 30 minutes and never overheat but if I take it for a 15 minute drive it gets too hot. I could have sworn that lower hose had a spring in it but now after reading your comment again I’m thinking that may be it too. It may be collapsing at...

Fan shroud that will fit this radiator?

I like to come back to this comment from time to time. My car has been overheating again and I’m now curious if it’s because of my hose routing for the heater core bypass. I’ve seen a lot of pictures on here of guys running the same set up but I’m curious if there is a better way to route it...

Is it time for a new radiator?

My Dart has been overheating after short drives. I’ve changed the water pump, thermostat, and fan and it’s still over heating. No shroud because after many years I have not been able to find one. The radiator is 15 years old and it’s a cheap Chinese unit. I’m curious if it’s just time to spend...

How to measure for a shroud?

I don’t have any unfortunately. Looks very similar to this one that comes up for a Dodge RV. Which makes sense because this engine came out of a motor home. Measurements in the website are 18”x26”.

How to measure for a shroud?

I have a radiator that has surface width of 25”. Flange to flange is 30”. It’s in a small block Dart and is fairly thin. Would this be considered a 26” radiator?
