    340 Vs 360

Nothing wrong with either one. I own both. I have a 340 in my Duster. I got it cheap, so why not? I ran it at Milan Dragway and a guy asked me if it had a "real" 340 in it. I said yes. Then he got mad and told me I shouldn't be racing it, and that it belonged in a museum. I smiled, shut the...

Size/part number for rear oil gallery plug

We're building a 318 and the oil gallery plug is missing (in #5 main saddle area.) Does anyone know what size it is or have a part number for the plug? I tried researching it but can't find anything! Thanks!

Kudos! Yeah, I've heard the '71-'73 blocks test the best.

In need of an education..340 vs 360.

That makes it as cool as a 340 stroked to a 416! But .070 over...Ouch. No problems with them at all? Do you race them? If so did you fill the blocks? I assume that sonic checking beforehand would be an absolute must. Personally I would be more comfortable with a thicker bore than a few extra...

In need of an education..340 vs 360.

2,400 pounds? Damn, My Duster is 3,300 pounds without me! btw...I'm not dissing on my 360 either. I did say they run almost the same ET. The 360 does not have the cool factor of a 340 though. It can run several seconds quicker than a 340 and people will STILL be disappointed that it is a 360...

And the 340 can stroke to a 416, which is cooler than a 408. :D

In need of an education..340 vs 360.

I've run both, built the same...the 360 has more torque off the line but the 340 has more of a top end charge. ET's are very similar. I like both, but prefer 340's well, because it's a 340. The name is a legend. It's also fun to beat on one at the track and make the people who say they are only...

    mopar 340 ??????

Got mine for $600 so yeah, that's a great deal. Of course I was told by some doofus on here that they are impossible to find for that price, so thanks OP for proving that they are out there.

    318 or 340?

Wait....save 340's for the resto guys? I beat the hell out of mine. hahaha!

    318 or 340?

360 would be the cheapest and easy to find. 340 would be the coolest (they aren't exotic but it's still cool to say that you have a 340.) BUT they are harder to find and more expensive. 318 would be the easiest to find, they can be made to run hard and would be more "original." So do what you...

Let me see you baddest Eddy headed small blocks..

I believe it. I've been running TRW forged pistons on my 340 for 8 years now, and since they came with the engine who knows how long before that? Several thousand street miles, several hundred dragstrip passes, several over-revs, and they are fine.

Anyone running a crosswind (air gap knock off) intake?

Cheap Chinese crap. I've seen a new Crosswinds and a new Airgap side by side and there is no comparison...the Airgap is superior.

    what will this car run????

First thing you need to do is remove the front floor pans and replace them with glass. That way you'll be able to see where you're going while pulling all those awesome wheelies.

    buying built 318

Exactly! I won't pay more than a few hundred for ANY unknown engine, including a 340. As for a 318, I'm trying to give one away and still have no takers. Everyone says they love 318's, but no one wants one, lol...
