I chased this problem in a 62 Impala I had and it turned out that the rad needed reaming out but it was so old and brittle I just got another one. Inside the top of the rad looked fine but it was plugged big time

    Daily driver setup

For your gears, find an online gear/tire/ratio calculator and plug in values that will correspond to the cruising rpm you want. After you tune it up and figure your cruising speed for best mileage select your tire/ratio/tire so that it will be turning the best rpm for fuel mileage. I think...

    4bbl Carb questions

Raising Rear End with a Lift Block kit on my Slant six

I am familiar with the autozone kit you mentioned which will not work with a 7 1/4 shock plates. You will need a 8 3/4 to use that kit. It has no block to accomplish the lift. The only difference is that the u bolts are about 3 inches longer than usual.

    Having a problem

    Cheapest ways to increase power

Dave thanks for posting the pics of the /6 with the Buick supercharger. I am convinced that when my V8 blows or wears out I will do something similar. I have loved /6's since my first car a 72 Gold Duster and have been talked out of doing a performance version of one but that won't work next time.

    4bbl intake question

If you use a carb like a 390 cfm Holley with a vacuum secondary and tune it to the engine it should work ok especially if you do some exhaust mods. I have seen hot slant 6 engines that ran a 750 cfm thermoquad very sucessfully. It all depends on how much you want to spend and how fast you want...
