I would take one as well.

    Decals

Thanks, 65 Dartman and cliff cuda65. It is indeed a version of a pie tin. The repro. I bought is simply a stick-on decal. I don't think the original style pie tins for the 273 Commando are being reproduced by anyone. If someone knows of a source I'd be interested.

    Decals

I bought the repro air cleaner decal on my '65 273-4 from e-bay. It is very nice. I still have the original decal which seems to be made of thin metal (?) of some sort. Pictures won't post from my computer onto this web site but I could send you a photo if you want, Tadams.

Chryslerfat: I totally agree with you. I;m not sure if $12k is top dollar for an early A, but maybe it is. What do others on the forum think?

    barracuda prices

My 1965 is basically an original California car. It was repainted about 20 years ago, and has had a few mods. done for the sake of drive-ability. When I had it up for sale on this site this past spring I was asking $13k for it, but would have taken less. You should have seen the comments I...

Question on fender badges on 1965 Barracuda

Does anyone know if the Formula S & Commando V-8 (or just V-8) emblems on the front fenders of a 1965 Barracuda are mounted the same? ie. would the mounting tabs and holes be in the same locations on the fender? I ask because my research seems to show that my car may be a Commando V-8 car...

Horse power limit with exhaust manifold 318

When I built the 318 in my 69 Dart Swinger I had the exhaust manifolds extrude-honed to increase the flow. This worked well as with street-slicks and 3.55 gears I ran in the low 12's at Union Grove Drag-a-Way. This was back in the 80's so I'm not sure who does Extrude-honing anymore, you might...

    Stirring up a hornets nest

Tadams, keep your 273 Commando in the car. The 273 Commando with an Automatic trans. in my 'Cuda with 3.55 Suregrip will turn the tires easily from a dead stop, and chirp them again going into 2nd gear unless you really baby the car taking off. If you kick in the passing gear at 30-40 MPH you...

    1965 Plymouth Barracuda

This car has been a California car for most of its life. It is extremely clean, there are no signs of rust or rot anywhere on the body, frame or underbody. The bright red paint with the black Rallye stripes had one repaint about 20 years ago and still shines nicely, but does have a few minor...

    Interesting 1965 Formula S Info.

Jim Lusk: I wasn't aware that 150 MPH speedos weren't used until 1966. Thanks for the info. Based on the date of the article I assume this was an early-build date vehicle. My point is simply that these cars did exist without a tach.

    65, 66 Formula S

It's likely a April 1, 1965 build date. #00001 is the sequential build number, meaning it was the first car scheduled to be built on that line on that date. My apologies if I have this wrong, I'm speculating right now since that's what blogs are for. Maybe pishta can clarify this.

    65 Barracuda fender tag help

Curbweight, I got your PM and would like to help but FABO says you are not allowed to receive PM's? Why I have no idea. If you PM me your e-mail I will be happy to send you a copy of the .jpg file I have.

    Question on 1965 Cuda value

lou3500, thanks for your comments. Yes, I realize value guides are an estimate and that the car is only worth what someone wants to pay for it. I also think that the upgrades should not hurt the value, but who knows what a buyer will think?

    Early 66 Cuda/ Valiant badging in 1966

To the best of my knowledge only 64-1/2 and 65 cars had the Valiant badging. It's possible that some very-early 66 models might also have it.

    Question on 1965 Cuda value

Tadams-My car is supposedly original with a repaint about 20 years ago and has not been restored. However there are certainly non-original parts on the car for the sake of drive-ability including an MP electronic ignitiion, mini-starter, dual exhaust system, tires and wheels, etc. so who knows...

    Question on 1965 Cuda value

I appreciate all the input. Chryslerfat, I agree that you can probably find a nice non-S car for around $10k. However a nice Formula S car has to be worth more than that. I have seen rusty Formula S cars that need a total restoration on our FABO website with asking prices of $3500-$4500...

    Question on 1965 Cuda value

I'm thinking again about putting my car up for sale. The current NADA value guide for a 1965 Formula S shows an average retail value of $15,780 and a high retail value of 24,360. Even a non-S car has an average retail of $13,150 and a high retail of $20,300. I know when I bought mine about 5...

Did Anyone See the Last Mecum Auction?

Yes, I thought the price was a little bit high too. There did not seem to be a lot of bidding action on this car, granted it is not a high-dollar vehicle like a lot of Mecum or Barret-Jackson auction cars are. Kelly blue book value on my '65 Formula S in it's current condition is about...

Did Anyone See the Last Mecum Auction?

They were showing the Mecum auction from PA on NBCSN this morning and I happened to see a 1965 Barracuda sell for $15k. Nothing special, red with white rallye stripes, 180 HP 273, it did have the optional factory A/C. Any comments or thoughts on the price?
