like 69 said,once you get it in place it can't go anywhere so you're good.

the 71 up couplers are a little longer but i din't think you'll get an in.+your shaft is probably collapsed a bit.very common problem

your correct.the spring only comes with the floorshift column and they're very hard to find.i never see them come up for sale.

i'm just going by my experience.i've done a bunch of a body columns and they always measured 37 3/4 so that's what i go by.just trying to help.

the p/s shaft is about 3" shorter than manual.yours is probably collapsed.also,all the 71 72 columns i've done don't have a lower bearing.you just center it and bolt in place.

that's correct.a lot of them had no bearings.you just center it when installing and tighten the floor mount.much eaiser with 2 people though.

they don't warp.it must have been dropped or something.

the collar that's circled in red has a set screw that holds it to the shift tube.should be a hole in the side for access.looks like a 70 column?

that sucks.you must have had a bad set.i've bought a couple of sets with good results.what was wrong with them?

i've used tony's and they were real nice

they were rippled like mopardude said but more often than not the tubes are bent.i found a pipe that's the inside dia.and work it till it slides all the way on.just my 2 cents.
