    Coolant leak - 318 w/ Ac

Awesome thanks Mr JLR. I also noticed some oil at the top of the water pump. Possible a/c oil or motor oil.

    Coolant leak - 318 w/ Ac

Thanks TrailBeast. I have a feeling they didn't add any sealant when re-installing the a/c compressor bracket. Would you use the red RTV? Can I go 1 bolt at a time while leaving the bracket on? Thanks!

    Coolant leak - 318 w/ Ac

I recently had a local shop install an a/c in my Dart. Since then I've been dripping some coolant. Not sure where but I see it down on the K member and on the ground, only when I drive the car for a good distance. I don't have an overflow bottle hooked up but I don't see it coming from the...

    high water temp issues

I fully agree with you Fishy68. I still don't know how I managed to get the stock fan clutch set up to fit. The old radiator was 2 core and this one is 3 so there's even less room than before. I'm going to call Geoff at Ledfoot to see if they sell a shroud that would work with my 7 blade...

    high water temp issues

Got my Champion radiator a few days ago. First reaction was nice value for the money. Once I started fitting the radiator in I noticed the holes weren't lining up. Even tho I ordered the stock replacement size 22" the Champion brackets were off. Had to take a cutting wheel to the...

    high water temp issues

Hopefully your right. Either way the new 3 core Champion rad is on its way. In the meantime I'm planning on a coolant flush to see if anything comes out. Jeff at Ledfoot said it was a good idea before installing the new radiator. Maybe I can save the old one while I'm at it.. We'll see..

Crackedback, I'm using a clutch fan, its brand new. Issue happens at all speeds, not just stop lights.

    high water temp issues

I thought the same thing so I popped the 160 Tstat out and tested it in a pot of hot water, thing works great. My water pump is brand new as is my motor. Its a fresh build with 200 miles on the motor. I made some improvements like #302 swirl port heads with a ton of head work, Lunati...

Went ahead and ordered a radiator from Champion today.

    high water temp issues

Problem is I have a solid 3-4 miles of stop lights before I get to the highway and thats where it warms up. Once I get on the highway I'm at about 190 and then it slowly creeps up from there. I just checked and this is the rad I have: 3574658 1972...

    high water temp issues

The radiator I'm running now is the original one that came with the car 1972. When I measured it its close to 22" wide by 21.5" top to bottom. The shroud I have is 26". Air flow makes sense. Guess I'm on the hunt for a shroud.

    high water temp issues

So I finally installed a decent mechanical water temp gauge. Drove the car in FL traffic today and I'm up there. Like 220-230 up there. I'm not running a fan shroud because I don't have one. Looking at new ones they run about $169. Wondering if I should spend the cash on a shroud and...

water temp gauge install - pics needed

I'm about to install an aftermarket water temp gauge. Was wondering if anyone has pictures of where they installed the actual gauge on the dash? Any pics are welcomed :prayer:

    Header exhaust leak - help!

And the winner is... REMFLEX! I now have 0 exhaust leak at either header. Have driven the car a few times and haven't had to re-tighten the header bolts once. Had I known then what I know now I wouldn't of bothered having my headers shaved down. REMFLEX are it. Period.

    Header exhaust leak - help!

The Remflex gaskets came in the mail today. Already I like them better. Compared to the Percy's they are almost double the thickness. The port size is much larger which matches up the carbon footprint on the old crappy gaskets. Fingers crossed tomorrow.

    Header exhaust leak - help!

Indeed! Wondering if I can double up the ultra seals + the percy's on the leaking side.

    Header exhaust leak - help!

Yeah I re tightened the bolts when I got the car home. Had about a quarter turn on the middle ports which is where its coming from. Strange thing is on the passenger side - no leaks. Only on the drivers side and only on the inside ports.

    Header exhaust leak - help!

Guys I hate to report this but I STILL have a leak. Ended up getting my headers back from the machine shop, straight as an arrow.. got the Percy's and installed them. After all said and done the car sat until tonight. The leak is I'd say 75% gone but still enough to twist my tittie...

    Header exhaust leak - help!

For what I paid for those Dougs you'd think they'd be wave free! The flange itself is 3/8 thick which is even more surprising they warped. Took them to a local machine shop today and should have em back tomorrow. Ready to hear that Lunati cam :blob:

    Header exhaust leak - help!

Took the headers off, set a straight edge on them and sure enough the middle ports have a gap in them on both sides! Off to the machine shop now..

    Header exhaust leak - help!

Headed to the man cave tomorrow with a straight edge. While I'm there I can try putting the gaskets up to the head to see if they cover enough and will see how straight those expensive Dougs headers actually are. Just to verify, are these the Percy's I should be looking at...

    Header exhaust leak - help!

I've had this set of Dougs for about a year now, first on the LA heads and more recently on the 308's (non magnum). The heads were match ported , shaved and polished. Never a problem until recently. Not sure why the flanges would arch being it they sat on a shelf for 3 months while my motor...

    Header exhaust leak - help!

I have an exhaust leak coming from the center ports of my heads on the header side. Was wondering if anyone on here has any feedback on what gaskets they like, bolt length etc.. My motor is a 318 with the swirl port heads. I'm running Dougs headers and ARP 5/16 - .075 length. I recently...

318 head gaskets and water jacket holes

There actually was a freeze plug missing. Clearwater Cyliner head missed it and my machine shop did as well. I installed the heads not even looking for them. They now have the nice new brass ones :)
