    3 speed tranny question

You can make it work with some fabrication, but you're probably better off adapting the floor shifter from your parts car

    3 speed tranny question

The floor shift car is an A230 The 66 has either an A903 or 748. Neither of those transmissions has any provision for a floor shift. The good news is, your A230 will plug right into the older Bell Housing and take the same trans mount and drive shaft as the 66

Pilot bushing for 4 speed swap

The early SB cranks were ALL drilled for pilot bushings. Some actually got the bushings installed even though it was an automatic application. You need nothing but a simple, stock pilot bushing to make yours work. Dont drill anything, dont cut anything..just tap the bushing in.

    neutral safety switch

No manual trans Mopar ever had a neutral safety switch. The ones that do have a circuit to ground the relay, all have a Clutch Safety Switch. Manual trans only ever had a reverse light switch.

    neutral safety switch

Not even close. Manual trans only has a two pin switch for the reverse light, and used a clutch pedal mounted switch to ground the relay.

    Diaphragm vs. Borg and Beck.............

Diaphragm clutches are inferior, period. Fine for a grocery getter, but have no place in a competition car. If you've ever had one hang open during a 7 grand powershift...or have the fingers go limp, out of the blue, because of heat and fatigue, you know the pain.

    Flywheel??

    A 68 273 and 318 share the same 130 tooth flywheels. Earlier 273s used a 122 tooth wheel.

    Value a 68 A833 18 Spline

If it's a short tail that was originally fitted with that input shaft, it could have ONLY come from a SS car. That thing is worth a fortune to the right guy

Is a pistol grip shifter a good choice for power shifting/drag racing?

Years ago, I used to drive a Street Race Hemi Challenger for a guy who was smart enough to not want to drive it. Way too much motor and no chassis at all. Had a Pistol Grip that turned out to be the only stable item inside the car I could hold onto when it would start getting stupid about a...

    duster pistol grip

I see what you mean about the height thing. On a B, that shifter body is actually level with the floor pan when it's installed with the adapter...be yeah, the height seems about right the way you guys have it. As for the angle though...I think you'd need an extra articulation in your wrist to...

    duster pistol grip

A simple aluminum bracket that raises the shifter about 2 inches, and tilts it back to the upright when in neutral position would be very simple to fabricate. I've driven cars with this shifter...both stock B Body and in an A body the way it's shown in the pics in this thread, and the...

    duster pistol grip

Yes, I understand that bracket is ONLY for B Bodies, and I'm not saying anyone should try to use it on an A. What I tried to point out, is that in addition to raising and moving the shifter rearward, that bracket ALSO tilts it back, so that the shifter is completely upright when in neutral. If...

    duster pistol grip

That bracket would literally put the shifter body up, in the car and against the seat in an A body. You don't want the bracket, you just want the tilt that the bracket provides.

    duster pistol grip

The 71-4 Bench B Body shifter is the most user friendly of all the Pistol Grips...I've got one in my 73 RR. But, there is one small quirk with it. When installed in it's original application, that shifter is mounted to a dog bone shaped adapter that raises it up approx. 3 inches and back...

    Rare 4-speed

As far as I know, that rare 18 spline 4 speed can only have one source of origination...a 68 Hemi Dart or Cuda. Of course, it could have been cobbled together...and there are no markings to confirm it being from an SS car, so I wouldn't be seeing any major dollar signs, but it's a really cool find!
