1 Problem with my 69 cuda.

Hey Eric,

I cleaned everything with the brake fluid drove it for 25 min each way went and checked it and these are the photos of what I found. The car was still pretty hot so the best I could do were the photos.

What ya think?

Rocco, Keep in mind that fluid wont leak up! In the pics looks like only from the pan gasket downwards is wet. So it looks basically a leaking gasket. When you go to redo the gasket... Take the round end of a small hammer and concave each bolt hole slightly on the pan. (Pan set right side up, hammer down, use block of wood to support) The idea being, that when you go to retighten the bolts you'll be putting pressure on a greater surface area. Rather than "pinching" the gasket between the pan n bolt. Also, I like cork felpro gaskets coated with copper spray a gasket (Permatex)

I purchased a brand new deep transmission pan. Sould I insall it? I think I payed 150 bucks for it. Someone else told me to just keep the original. At this point would it be best to install the new one?
 
Deffinetly install the deep pan. A deep pan is always best as it holds more fluid to keep the trans. running cooler. I don't know why anyone would ever suggest running a stock pan. Apparently they don't know much about how transmissions burn up from heat.

Just make sure you got the filter extension with it to extend the filter down low in the pan.
 
degrease the whole trans and then you will be able to see the source alot better.
 
obviously i am having a hard time reading this morning. eric already said it before me. "peening" the holes is a great thing to do. let us know how it worked.
 
I had to order the feel pro gasket. It will be here in 2 days. I got the permatex spray. I wll give you updates.
