1964 Valiant "Get Runnin & Drivin"

I was very fortunate there. The little car I got from @AbodyTim had them with it. The covers you see have been covered over the original covers. They are much better than what I had.
Eventually I will have mine recovered. I'd like to get the factory correct upholstery and have them professionally done. There is a place in town that does them but they ain't cheap. The upholstery itself ain't cheap either. For now I will just buy a new seat cover. Lol Its still got the same seat cover on it from when I bought the car in 2001. Its one of those saddle blanket patterns like every truck in the 90s had haha I like it tho its comfortable

I got an estimate from the "cheaper" of the two places in Macon that do a good job. $700 a seat and that was with the plainest looking stock vinyl. No way Jose. Ain't happenin. That's why I am trying to soften these up. It's workin, too.

Yea that would never be in my budget lol I plan on after I get mine running and driving and mechanical sound to improve the cosmetics like head liner door panels seat covers new dash pad etc.. I'm doing what I can to make it look nice now but I have so much stuff to get it mechanically sound I cant justify spending money on cosmetics right now.

Yeah, my passenger door door panel is messed up on the bottom corner. I'm gonna eventually pull it off and try to straighten it out some. It's been like that a long time, though.

Mine where mint when I took them off my dumbass taped the fake wood part with masking tape then I wrapped them in Syrian wrap thinking it would protect them. Well have you ever seen what masking tape looks like 15 years later? Haha the wrap apparently held in the moisture instead of keeping it out and the tape turned into this nasty *** layer of crap. Haha so I basically ruined them haha

Got the Killmat on the package tray.

Much to my surprise, the headliner guy showed up at Matt's today. He was missin some plastic clips and he couldn't install it without them. So he drove three miles down the road and is puttin the headliner in the Valiant. Pictures when it's done.

Here's how the headliner is lookin like so far.

Rusty, I might need that guys info when I do mine. Looks like he’s doing a nice job. That red is popping.

Here is the finished product. Well, until I put all the accessories back in place. The wrinkles photoed were already working themselves out when George was loading up his van. It looks very good.

He's closer to you than he is me. He's in Lawerenceville, but he came down to do the Chevelle and we didn't have everything. He had planned on doing mine at a later date, but I saved him a wasted day and he came on by here and did mine. I have his info. He gave me a couple business cards. He's done bow style headliners before, but this was his first Valiant. I recommend him to any of yall in Georgia and he would probably come out of state for a reasonable fee. He's good.

Glad to see that things worked out well. I believe that most guys will tell you that having someone knowledgeable on the installation of a headliner is worth the money spent avoiding the frustrations.

Going to be a sharp car!!

Got my rear courtesy lights installed today. Now I have FIVE lights when the doors open. lol This was taken with the shop lights off and no flash. Let there be light!

My second project was putting my 3.5" speakers in the dual speaker bracket I got from Jerry @74 Sport and I realized I got 10/24 screws and 10/32 nuts. Oh well. Tomorrow's another day. lol

That is one sweet ride Rob. Fresh paint and wheels that thing will be smoking.

I got me some wheels. I gotta wear these brand new 13s out first. Then I have a set of Ansen slots sittin in the wings. 14x6 for the front and 14x7 for the rear. That should sparkle it up some.

A little more done. Obligatory cool hot rod floor mats and I got my radio installed and wired. Speakers next.

Also got my rear courtesy light harness run. Going to tap into that and run some wires for a trunk light, too.

Would be nice to see a how to on that with pictures, since my 64 and ZERO courtesy lights anywhere to be found.... No Dome light, but I have the rear seat side mounts, buts thats all they are.... posers.....no lighting gear in them.... I guess in 64 they expected u to use a flashlight.

Wish I would have caught u b4 the killmat went in. As i had posted b4, when my Dumpster was used as a sound stage, I had a custom rear deck installed underneath the package tray. Installers came up from the bottom and installed 3/4" MDF and cut holes for the 6 x 9's and 10" subs...... Speakers were mounted from underneath and fired thru porous cloth. Totally camouflaged. The MDF gave an excellent base for the speakers to handle a serious amplifier with out the entire rear package tray rattling along with @ higher volumes. Having everything apart like that would have made it Simple Simon to add such a install.

Eventually, Ill have my deck mod removed from the Dumpster, and will take measurements and pictures for posterity's sake and share them here.

Still, your car is turning out beautiful.....
