Last week I picked up the assembled rear end. It was done by Gunnar Karlsson in Stockholm, a former Chrysler techician.
Life is good!

Finally it was time for this car. The rear axle is assembled and ready for rear axle cover. I found a NOS one in my stash and a new gasket is ready.
The axle has some markings. 02070051 must be the casting number on the house alone.
Triangle + 10 means?
Next is 821. My guess is that the center section was casted 821 meaning August 21st 1964.
The left side pipe has a stamped F. Not sure what the meaning is but might be the length of it.
After adding the cover I started wonder if the last screw with the clips holding the brake line should be unpainted? If it were mounted before the the paint was added the line workers needed to dis-assemble the bolt and clip and bend the clip over the brake line and then mount it. Any thoughts?
When everything was ready for paint the brake shield was not in place. They were black phosphated and mounted with the white foam gasket inside out after the axle housing were painted. But were the special bolts added on each side that holds the brake sheld before or after the housing were painted?
Since the axle was not filled with oil before the paint process my guess is that the plug were added after paint. The line workers put a red paint splot in the middle of the plug after filling the axle with oil and tightened it.

Today I took out the drivers seat out of the car. The carpet had never been out of the car since December of 1964 so I took it ou very gentle even if it had some worn out spots.
On the bavkside I didnt find that little decal on the right side where it not any insulation. Instead the carpet was marked with a black pen.
The front flooring is in mint condition. No rust at all. Did find a tejp marker from the back up light wiring harness.

I will try to clean it up.
Tonight I was able to paint the rear end. I even started to assemble the brakes. The brake shoes even had the DPDC logotype on them.

This is my first early A-body with a factory front sway bar. Any knowledge where to find rubber bushings for it?

Today the work will continue pn this one. The rear seat is out as well as the rear carpet. The seat belts seems to be factory ones. Fourth quarter of 1964.

The carpet has a different marking with partnumber.

But I found two free ride passengers from US. I don't know what kind but some FABO members might have knowledge. I don't!

Hi Ulf. In your last pic, I see you pack your lunch. So did that critter come with the blanket? Very nice....fun to follow along. Sgrip65

Yes indeed Ulf, found one in a boot I was putting on once in Scottsdale, AZ. I was advised afterwards to make sure my boots were either hung up upside down or socks stuffed into them...LOL

It was located between the floor and the carpet! Luckily it ws in -30° F storsge for two months so I guess they were freezing!

Started with the dash today. I'm looking for an NOS speedometer for this car. Anyone out there?

A friend of mine over in US has made these Dart Charger badges and they are stunning! These will be on my car. A total of 7 of them.

Today I was able to remove the prop.shaft and the torsion bars. All wiring was hooked off as well as the a/c wiring. The vacuum connections got losen when I tried to remove the vacuum hoses. Dang!
Sometime in this cars history someone has tried to drag the car in the mid section of the radiator support.
But anyway, next move would be to lift the body over the engine/tranny. Then continue to remove instrument panrl and some body parts and I think we're ready for some bodywork.
The biggest thing will be to shoot pictures of the a/c system so I can restore it back to factory working condition.

This is probably not an option for you -A friend who was going to FL with his AC stuff took my compressor and all the hoses to Classic Air in FL. They rebuilt my compressor and replaced my hoses with new barrier hoses and restored all the fittings. He was still in the area when everything was completed and picked my stuff up too. Saved me a bunch on shipping. I still will be using R12 freon as I have 6 cans of it

I will try to keep itvoriginal even if I know your route is way better.

Today I were sble to lift the body up and roll out the front end, engine and tranny combo. I can for sure say that no one has worked on it before!
