1965 Dartcharger

Now that’s the difference between original and aftermarket ,
The aftermarket tank doesn’t have the circular depression to clear the spare well plug making it impossible to install from the top .

Keep up the great work .

my repro tank has that circular depression and the plug needed to be installed from the bottom (i tried and failed installed it from the top!

To my eyes the depression in the repro tank look identical to the wagon’s old tank and a tank from a 65 Barracuda I had parted out. Once I determined the plug could not be installed from the top, it went in from the bottom and fit perfectly in the depression. Is the plug different, maybe over time it has swelled a bit. The other OEM plugs I have all look the same so I don’t know

Don! In the spare tire area there are two plugs. One in plastic and one in rubber. The plastic plug which is thinner goes above the gas tank and the rubber one goes in the rear of the area.

Interesting. In both the wagon and the Barracuda both plugs were rubber. Could one have been changed? Sure but I don’t know for sure so I reused what was there!

Made lots of progress today. Disassembled the instrument panel. Took apart all instruments to check them out. Greased all the switches so they are in great condition. Gonna mask them later for the chrome paint. The black out areas were in great shape.
Did the last arrangement on the body too. Tomorrow it will be water glass beaded. Can hardly wait.

A job well done. I like the tricycle front wheel....great idea. Looks good. Sgrip65

Took some time off today to continue the work to dis assemble my third Dart Charger. I really enjoy a cat that nobody have ever touched! The trunk is rustfree. Sometimes I think it's a shame mediablast the trunk area since it's in like new condition.
The inside of the truck id in the same nice condition. Even the tiny clamp is there!!
But there are some areas of the car that doesn't look that good.

But to just polish and.............

Is that a correct year? Or a misprint?
It's actually correct! Sorry not for seing this until now!
The rules here in Sweden is that cars 50 years and older needs to have one inspection where the car is OK. Then you don't need to inspect it in the future. 2099 is just because State inspection authorities computer system could not handle more years.

Today I took this Dart Charger for a spin around the barn. Ran like a kitten. Next is to store it until I have assembled my son Kevins wifes Beetle. Restored heads and heat chambers.

The Cragars look nice; I prefer the look of the chrome Magnum 500’s and it’s not just because that’s what I had on hand.

Too bad they didn't make them in small bolt pattern.

Finally my Dart Charger is back on the shop. Today I finished the engine worknon my oldest son Kevins VW 1303 from 1973.

The doors is off! The panels were in excellent condition. They can certainly be reused. Behind was the thin plastic incl black tejp holding the plastic in place. It was to protect the door panels from water.
I'm not sure of the supplier but there is no date codes on the backside!!

Finally I was able to put some time on this car. The front of the radiator support shows that it wss sprayed black behind the grille. Even on top of the bracket that holds the little hook!
The battery tray was bolted to the inner fender with two different kind of bolts. The tray with a narrow bolt and the brackets with an ordinary bolt. As you can see the tray still have the greenish primer on the backside which mean it wss mounted when it came to the painter. There is still some trace of yellow paint on it.
I have included pictures from an engine bay that hasn't been molested too much.
