1969 Barracuda 340 Formula S Restoration

That should be plenty of cam Jim. I used a 222/234 Crane in my stock 400 and it was a nice street cam. You could probably go down one step to the SEH2024AL-11 and still be happy.

I ran both thru my "dyno" and they both have the same peak HP (300 @5500). The 2024 has a bit more low end torque - as would be expected. This was with Hughes recommended 9.25:1 CR.

Drove from Ontario to Tennessee last week (~14 hrs in one day was a long day!!!) to pick up a passenger door from red_srt10 and also a driver's door for my son's '69 Cuda. Both in very good condition.
I had some other parts to pick up at Port Huron on the way back that had been out for restoration.
Had sent my gauges to Redline to have them gone over/restored. Converted to electronic voltage regulator, converted ammeter to a voltmeter and had new electronics installed in the tach and refaced the tach.

I sent my AC evaporator and both hoses to Classic Auto Air in Florida for refurbishment and replacement of the hoses with new ones. The evaporator looked great but they had left some kind of fluid in the small expansion valve sensor tube. It leaked out and corroded the new finish on the steel lines. Was not happy, however, they promptly sent me a prepaid UPS Express label and promised to turn it around in 2-3 days and ship back prepaid as well - no hassle at all. Although disappointing to get them in this condition- the follow up was first class.

Sent my AM/FM radio off to S/M Electro Tech Auto Electronics to have modern guts installed. Had an auxilary i and a USB input installed as well. Looks like a quality conversion.

Frame rails sandblasted and then sealed with Eastwood Internal Frame Coating. Weld through primer used under all panels that are spot welded to the frame

Had a successful shopping trip at Carlisle Chrysler Nationals on the weekend.. Have been looking for many months for the correct 46 amp alternator for my 69 340 Cuda with AC. (2098850) . They seem to be somewhat rare. Spotted 3 alternators at one vendor and one was what I was looking for. As a bonus it was even the correct date code. Took it to Jim Ridge (Dixie Restorations) to have it restored. He said it had never been apart and still had the correct original rear bearing.
I was also looking for a set of 340 exhaust manifolds since mine are badly rust pitted. Found a REALLY NICE set but had to go to the atm to get more cash!!
Jim
Ps. Now I need to get them cast iron ceramic coated

I left Sunday morning about 7:30 and got home at 5:30. Great weather all the way home. The Hemi hummed along at about 70-75 mph and around 2400 -2500 rpm.
How was Sunday??

Nice weather again, although sticky! Went down and did the ride along and chilled. Easy day as the field was empty and drove the truck and trailer in to load up. Left the car on the field Friday and Saturday. Was the SRT vert in R110 the one you did? looked like it but did not see your name on entry placard.

Mine was in R108

Yes 108, sorry that one! Gorgeous but the name on the card was not yours was it?

At Carlisle, my 6,1 Hemi Cuda got a "Celebrity Choice" award from Herb McCandless. It took me a while, but finally tracked him down to thank him for the award. He phoned a few days ago and we had a long conversation about Mopar's. He wanted to know if I knew Tim Wellborn. I said I was taking my Superbird to the Aero Warriors reunion at his museum in October. Then Herb wanted to know about my Superbird!!! Herb said he is going to be there as well and gave me his cell phone number so we can hook up at the reunion!!! Pretty cool!!! Looking forward to meeting him in person.

So are you saying both those cars were yours? The Black fish was the lady that asked for stakes and the hubby or boy friend returned them.

Picked up my 727 Tranny from SMR Transmissions in Bradford, Ontario
After having a "Classic Restoration" performed. classic restoration
Pat has been working on Mopar Transmissions for about 35 years and knows lots of little modifications to improve the live of the tranny. He found quite a few problems in the tranny from a previous overhaul. Also got a new torque converter.

I used to race with Pat back in the day. He is a great guy. He did the convertor on my cuda, and it is exactly what I wanted. It was originally built for my 400 with 450 lb/ft of torque and now lives behind my 500 stroker with 600+ lb/ft.

Neat that you used to race with Pat. When I went to pick up the tranny, I asked Pat what he found inside , what mods he makes and how he tests the tranny. 2 hours later!!!!

Last time I talked to Pat was at breakfast at Moparfest a few years ago. He was telling us a story about going out for dinner with Arlen Vanke.
