Have any problems driving a spool on the street? I hear they don't like taking corners well.

I don't even notice it's a spool to be honest. On certain surfaces if I'm taking a hard turn, I can sometimes hear a chirp chirp chirp as I go through the corner. Other than that, no problems.

Yeah I got Ladder bars with spool. I barely notice it and got use to it quick. With the ladder bars it does push a little in the corners, nothing major! I have 3 wheeled it when entering parking lots, screech-screech at the same time... Lol

Oh, by the way I kicked a Chevy 2's *** tonight. Car was pretty hot, bigger tires than mine and ladder bars. I left him by at least 6 cars right out of the gate, guy was in shock & so was his Wife! haha

:burnout:

I was watching your video on the previous page, do you have a removable head rest for the track? Just curious, my seat backs are about the same height as yours and i was thinking you were required to have some type of head rest?

If you were over here, I'd take you for a spin for sure! I add videos to my Youtube account every now and then so you can always check there. Latest showing how the 5500 stall acts between lights and at slow cruise. Even though it's a 5500 stall, I can keep it between 2-3K RPM.

Damn that sounds awesome! Did you leave at a dead stop or rolling? I can't get this car to hook from a dead stop. I'm still spinning tires to 80mph! I don't know if it's because the 4 link is jacked up or what. Really gotta get that fixed. I'm always rolling with my GoPro ready but never ever do I run into any car worth running against.

Maybe in certain indexes? I've never heard that before and have seen many cars run the same way. But to answer your question, no. There are no head rests.

We did it both ways. Was from a dead stop first. I had to pedal it just a bit out of the gate. Once I grabbed second.... Was over for that clown.

Second time was at a roll just at the top of 1st gear. On that one I shifted into second and grabbed the juice at the same time! Last I seen of him til we got down the road a bit. He gave a thumbs up and headed off in a different direction.

My car is weighed & scaled and the suspension tuned by Pete Johnson he is my buddy who helped me with the cage and ladder bar set up. The ladder bar hooks like a Mo Fooo!! It usually lightly hazes the tires and then you can feel it BAM..... Hooks , depends on the condition of the street. At a roll like I explained above, it does the same thing. Hazes a bit on the juice in second and you hear and feel it BAM...... starts moving like a freight train.

I need to have that done. Mine obviously doesn't hook like that whatsoever!

I've seen them all plowing through the thread. Is planning visiting Carlisle 2016 as a birthdaypresent for myself. Let's see how It works out?
Would Love a spin but I ain't going so far inwards country as Kansas :(

I actually bought a set of scales from Summit...... We used them once so far and only on my car, then they were put back in the box! Lol

Wireless ones. Cost IIRC $780.00

I sure do love your car, it's amazing how quickly you turned it around! I don't know how you found the time, seems like everything takes me forever to accomplish.

Yeah I wouldn't either if I were you! Unfortunately, I'll never make it out to Carlise.

I've decided I'm going to get a reputable shop to get it done. I'd like to have the scales but that doesn't seem worth it to me to use them once or twice.

Married but no kids, that's how. I would come home nearly every day from work, get a quick snack, get into my work clothes and wittle away at it till late at night. I would only go in the house when the wife would have dinner ready and then I would go right back to work. Now I can hardly find any motivation to do little things because it just straight burned me out. Now you want to talk about someone who can turn things around in a hurry, MR. MAD DART up there is the king of that. I was baffled how much he could do in such little time. He started his project long after me and finished around the same time, if not before.

i just re read this entire thread because i cant sleep, thinking about my car, clint what wiring harness did you go with, and would you build a dash to sell or send the drawings to me so i can copy?

I've had nights like that! I used an EZ 21 circuit harness. It was pretty straightforward. Probably wouldn't be able to make another insert without having another dash. I could send you the dimensions I used for the gauge spacing but I don't have an exact drawing of the insert itself with dimensions. I essentially just made that to fit the car's dash opening that I cut with the gauges spaced enough and just filled the rest of the dash that the insert didn't fill.

ok i guess i can try to wing it, and thanks ive been reading up on almost every harness out there

Won a plaque at a local car show and wasn't expecting it! They called earlier in the week saying that I needed to come pick up my trophy. I was like trophy for what?! And this what I got.

Here's a cool fly-over of the show that was done with a drone. You can see my car in the first of the video

Jellous!!!!!

Quite an honor considering the competition there.
Who says A bodies get no love?

Clint, just finished reading the whole thread!!!! Nothing but respect and admiration, I went through teething problems and my Dart is pretty much stock. But you stuck with it and what a car 10s out of the box!!!!!!! Great job!!!!!!!!!

There were some nice B and E body cars there too. That's why I thought it was such a surprise. There was a '71 Dart there which belongs to a friend and his car is really much nicer than mine, but mine was still picked surprisingly. I suppose for that category, it's not about how nice it is or how original or extreme, it's really just about what that particular judge liked and he apparently really liked what I did. To me that's the best award to be awarded. Anything that's people's choice or favorite.

Thanks Paul. I wasn't sure it was going to come out the way I wanted, but I think I got it close enough for now. A weekend cruiser that looks nice and will go 10's down the track. I may as well have started with a bare car really. Only thing I saved was the paint and interior, neither of which are show quality, but nice enough that I don't need to replace either at this point. Stick with it on yours. Chip away little bits at a time and you'll get there!

I sold some parts recently and have a little change now for some more parts. I have 3 things that I want to change.

The first being the radiator. I have the old style in now with a Taurus fan that doesn't really fit the radiator correctly. What I'm planning on getting is a good Aluminum radiator that will help cool better and look better as well. Working on some cooling issues, but it's not really the radiator or fan as much as it is that I'm not running a thermostat and the flow is just too fast through the system at the moment. It's not overheating, but I think it could cool better. I know a guy with access to a water jet so I'm going to have some special restrictors made to aid with the flow.

The second being a new front bumper. Mine is dented smack center of it, which bent it out of shape slightly, with some rusting coming through in spots. This is just a cosmetic upgrade.

The third is a new windshield. This one looks original and is severely scratched up and rock chipped. Removing the windshield will also get me access to a couple areas on the dash that I want to touch up with some paint that are inaccessible with the windshield in. Again a cosmetic upgrade.

In my mind, I think that the radiator should be the first thing to get changed but dang are the good ones expensive.

Clint,

What brand tire are you running in the front. "Make and Size"

My MT's are toast and I want to get new ones. The MT front DOT tires do not last long at all on the street. Mine are wore even but the tread's are Wasted.

Clint, even though I am not running anywhere near as productive, heat generating engine as you but I have a recored 4 core original radiator with shroud and a direct drive fan[7-blade] and my car runs 195 all the time without a thermostat. BUT you have to keep in mind when it is 110-115 degrees that is only 75 to 85 degrees above ambient. That actually is acceptable, but I don't no how hot it is there.
