1972 Dodge Colt

Hey Stan - Your engine trouble seems insane. :) To me, that pushrod becoming disengaged seems like a violent event and you'd think there would be a clear explanation. Hope you get it solved soon. Best!

New head is on and torqued.
Rocker arms adjusted.
Compression test is the same with a cover on or off.
I will put the intake and headers on tomorrow we will see.

Got it back together today.
Late start and the weather got crazy tonight.
Hope to start it tomorrow.

Sounds like we have a winner! Way to go, Stan.

Stan, are you going to continue to look at the old head to find out what happened?

Looked it over as I took the springs off it and I don't see anything.
If this new head runs good, I may just close this dead end and move on.

Not a polished Video, but it sounds right to me.
And heat in all 6 headers.

Sounds good!!!! Still very curious about that other cylinder head. Glad you're making headway.

Don't know much about an AVS, spent too much time with Holleys.
There is no cooling in the system yet so I need to do that next.
Went today to Smileys in Mesquite TX today, an old style speed shop.
They have stuff you can look at and touch!
Picked up 5 gallons of racing gas.
Also stopped by Xtreme Raceway to check it out.
Then to the machine shop to see about an 8 deg. carb spacer to help with the rake.

Extreme is nice, have run my Charger there a few times…
The only issue is the staging lanes are very narrow, if every car was as wide as your Colt it wouldn’t be a problem

Working little things today.
Battery install, need one more electrical terminal.
Capped the header rear venturi pipe.
Added the Mitsubishi Emissions Tag to the firewall, just for grins.
And cleaned up some of the Accel wire lengths.
What do you guys think about the yellow wires? I am not sure.
I hope to put water in it tomorrow but have to take Kota to the Vet and get his stiches removed

I like the yeller wires! They look good! Old school!

Another kick in the shorts.
The head I just installed had epoxy in the #1 exhaust port.
I assumed someone had gotten into the water jacket.
Took it to a local race shop and was told it should be ok to run.
They had no equipment to pressure check a slant head.
So I took a chance.
Today I pressure checked the cooling system before water.
Well I have an air leaking sound in the front header collector.
Now I need to make some decision for a path forward.
I will remove the header and intake tomorrow and inspect the port under pressure.
