1974 Duster

Picked up a Performer RPM intake to go with the Magum/LA bolt pattern heads.

I can't wait for July to get here so I can do some work!

Still plugging along on the homefront guys- I was able to get the trunk area painted and will install the gasket soon.

Started work last night on the other half of the dual exhaust, the welder will be humming tonight!

Duals are done! Will post pics tonight of the work.

A/C is functioning!

A/C is NOT functioning! I have a leak somewhere, lost all the freon in 24 hours.

No grease on the condensor or fittings, has to be the compressor or evaporator core =(

Pictures of the exhaust tips- The system is from Summit Racing ($200) exhaust tips from some Dodge Daytonas I stripped years ago.

The system uses the factory Y-pipe which I split into two sections and rewelded, thank God for mig-welders! For a mild engine like this its fine and the car sounds good. If I have some time I'll do a video of the car running.

Fixed and lubed the speedo cable, installed '73 120 mph speedo, installed brighter dash lamps and installed trunk weatherstrip gasket.

Never saw this thread before glad I found it.What a great build.Car looks Great !8)

Thanks! I'm considering spiffing up the exterior with either a go wing or flat black side stripes from challengergary.

or both! :-D

I have some old Flowmaster mufflers too that I'm thinking about slapping on, so much to do so little time...

Just installed the rear springs I picked up from Mancini Racing in April. Turns out one of the springs is defective =(

Cracked open the diff and found out instead of 3.21 gears I have 2.45's!

Pity I dount have time to set the rear end up with new gears in time for Cecil County next month.

How did all the seals fit from Just Mopar? I've read the entire thread and never saw a post about fitment on the seals. Which seals did you use from Just Mopar?

The seals (Metro Parts) are kind of hit or miss in my opinion. I went back to running the OEM gasket on the drivers door glass as it would not seal no matter what I tried. Would whistle like mad going down the road.

Metro Parts did send a replacement gasket, but I'm not happy about the fitment.

Finished cleaning the 8.25, painted it and the backing plates, sandblasted the shock plates and front hanger brackets, painted them too.

Used semi-flat Rustolium black, just looking for something nice not original.

Met Ralph at SDAC-19 this year...great guy

I can't wait to see Relentless back on his or her feet........you hear that Gary

Progress slow but sure... need to work on that gas tank over the winter.'

Car handles better and is much stiffer in the rear, fewer noises too.

Manchini XHD springs with poly bushings.

Picked up a set of 3.55's off Ebay for $23!!

I'm planning on setting this up soon, will post results.

MAN. I am super impressed with the freshining of this 1974 Duster. You have come a LONG way in a short time and done stellar work the whole way!

Keep it up, you give me inspiration!...love your car!

My first car/Duster was exactly the same exterior color as yours....so seeing the work you have done is very nice.

Thanks! Work will proceed again this spring, I'm in the process of laying groundwork for a new 25 x 45 garage and taking delivery of '67 Dart this afternoon.

Due to the new purchase there will be a change of plans with the Duster- The gears will get done, along with the side stripes and engine bay detailing but I'm going to leave the 318 alone for the most part.

Some pieces like the new headers will get shifted to the Dart project and I'll keep manifolds on the Duster.

Pulled the 8.25 from the Dart parts car (38,640 miles) today and stripped it down. The plan is to install a set of 3.55's and an Auburn Gear locker in the spare diff, detail it up and swap into the Duster.

3.55's will be sweet compared to the slacker 2.45's I'm currently stuck with!

Installed a mint A/C vent outlet today and a factory trunk lamp option kit.

Pictures tomorrow, first cruise of the season!

Still working in the trunk area, it is work in progress! The "carpet" I found at Wal-Mart worked great on the inner side of the quarter panel.
