What is the housing number?
How many splines?
Which u joint?
I've already put the 2.76's in. I didn't remove the yoke because of the drag in the turn. I figured a 741 open with 2.94's wasn't really worth putting much money or effort into it. Small u joint.

By the way, the green bearings allow no slack. With one axle in, there is no play. The other axle didn't have any play either.
  • Anyone with green bearing experience?? Is this the way they work?

Do not tighten them down and bent the retainer plate.

So, I was originally hoping for 3.5 to 4 tenths on the 3.23's.... so what's the 2.76's going to get me, a .15 ????? LOL

Probably about 22 mpg on the way to the track and home... Lol... But, should be able to launch hard without any tire spin, and if you run up the RPM, a few more mph per gear... So maybe, a little off the ET...

well, it's a .31 of a turn on the drive shaft. About like going from 3.23's to 3.55's. Ironically, it's harder to control wheel spin with a tall highway gear because if they break loose, the whip so fast that you basically got to let almost all the way off to get them to bite, especially with a one legger.... they really whip! LOL

Here's what was on it when I got home with it the last time.
They are still holding air.

Honestly let the air out of them, before they bust, and possibly send crap into your eyes.
I had a co-worker airing up his boat tires this spring, they were new tires last year.
He was just bumping them up a few lbs, one exploded in his face.
He had a messed up chin and cheek for a couple of weeks, what saved his eyes were he had his company issued safety glasses on.

I asked him why he had his safety glasses on, he said I wear them all day long at work, and I feel like something is missing if I am not wearing them, when working on something.
It was a good thing he had them on, or his wife would have been captain of the boat, because he would have lost at least one eye.

Your tires are not tubeless?

Yes they are tubeless if you can get air in to them. lol

The other thing about tubeless on these open face rims is the fact there is no beadlock. So if you don't run with 75 lb or more the bead will pop loose going around a corner.
So I kind of like the idea of having a tube in there so that the bead doesn't come loose from the rim.

I have same wheels on my trailer. Lol. The way I learned to get the beads seated on them is to run a ratchet strap around the circumference of the tire, down the center of the tread. As you tighten the strap it will force the tire sidewalls out. Get some air in, loosen the strap and then finish airing up the tire.

Tried that. 12 plies did not want to cooperate.

Well, thought I'd get to drive it today, and probably could have but all the "axle tests" kind of put me behind a little.
  • The brake line "junction" isn't in the same place as the 8.25. It's about 3 inches away. I need to put a little longer brake line on the drivers side, no biggy.
  • I also need to set the car down on wheels on ramps and check that my drive shaft at least has minimal clearance for length. Seems the 8.75 yoke is about a 1/4 inch longer, so it is probably ok.
  • Lastly.......... head out of town and see what kind of difference going "up to" (LOL) 2.76's make :D :D

Any pictures of all 4 gold wheels on?
How about THIS Gold ?? Getting ready for Jaba, thought I'd go to the dragway today and get some practice in and came home with this..... :)

Ok, I can tell the 2.76's are in there.. LOL. Up from the 2.45's, it is a little stronger. I can tell you, the headers and 2.76's both together definitely made this car stronger. And, I'm really impressed with the MT ET Street SS's. Wow do they bite, even on the regular road.

Tomorrow I'll try and post pictures. Today I ran a piece of brake line (difference in rear ends), put the pressure on the axles instead of the jack stands and measured the drive shaft slack to be sure the 8.75 wasn't eating up too much of the space, and test driving. Little wider stance plus a little more deep dish wheel has this beast as stable as a go cart (it has the front stabilizer too). MT's are smooth as a dolphin and bite like a gator.

Hopefully now I can get my drive shaft loop installed this week. That way she'll be track ready. Like to get a E.T. slip in it's current state :)

Then on to other things, like heads? cam? and maybe the 2.76's will be yanked for 3.23's ??
