30 years between runs

I Have One in a 68 Barracuda with a 727 and 4.88 Gears and FULL Street Trim Through the Mufflers and Street Tires that has run 11.8001.I HAVE the Time Slips to prove it.It Is Stock X-Heads,MP Single Plane Manifold,.030 TRW Pistons,STOCK 273 Crank,Rods,Rockers, and a .590 MP Cam.

IT CAN BE DONE EASILY..

SS

The original comment was:"it could be done with a basically STOCK 340"...
30 over pistons,single plane intake,.590 cam is'nt stock...

340demon has 11 second timeslips from the 70 something winternationals in his 340 fourspeed demon that was basicly stock except for deep gears, headers and some tuning/blueprinting-hes got the wrinkled quarter to prove it.I dont know about where you live but the good ole boys around here didnt mess around.

Stroked 340, you need to let this go and again sloooowww down on your reading,it clearly sates a bsicly stock 71 340 demon, that means a full interior, stock suspension car that only has a few mods,no ported heads,no fiberglass ect.Its right there in plain sight that the engine was blueprinted and had some mods, headers, deep gears ect.No where did I imply it was a stock engine.

I read just fine thank you..30 over, single plane intake..590 lift cam is NOT basically stock!!!..if it is then i guess my 416 stroker is basically STOCK too....modified is modified no matter what way you do it!!!

Lol,well an aftermarket stroke, ported aluminum headed engine is a long way off from a stock stroke, stock production head engine with a cam, induction and headers.Just pick you poison,"full weight, full interior car","basicly stock engine","modified engine",your criteria and definition seems to cange with every post!.Its just dam impressive to say the least to me that a car so close to stock with a production 340 c.i. long block,a cam change, some headers, induction change and gears can go 11s,he would run your "basicly stock 416".:toothy10:

Trust me would'nt be a race... now my STOCK stroke 360 that would be a race seeing as i have that in the 11.70's...

How Come Everytime I get on one of these Websites There is at Least One That THINKS they Know It ALL???!!!!......Ones That Have Been Racing Bench MOST of their Lives and Couldn't Build a Dayum Engine from Scratch if they had Every Part Laying in front of them to use.....

And ALL This from a Guy That was POed About the way they have changed so many rules from 30 years ago when he was racing regular....Man This Member aint allowed an opinion I guess...

This Thread is SOOOO Far Off Topic Now It Aint Funny...

What Does Your Car Weigh and How Much Head Work And Cam Etc is Done to It?...Oh Yea and what are the Pistons,Rods,Etc?...

This is the guy that posted this, not me SS.:toothy10:.The car i know of ran high 11s with a pretty basic 340 combo. He even ran 12.50s with stock manifolds and the headpipes cut and I believe 4.10s,he ran 11s with large tube headers and I believe 4.88s if I remeber right, maybe he will chime in.

I Know Lead69....It Wasn't toward you Bud...We Have PROFESSIONAL Know-It-ALL Bench Racers Here....

Ain't no bench racing...i've got a stack of timeslips to prove my times, and i'm sure theres got to be people on here, or other Mopar sites that have seen the duster run, its been to e-town,Lebanon valley, and my home track n.e. dragway several times...heres a photo from e-town...

Well, i dont think if you say "street car" that it can be classified so pin point. If the guy drives it on the street, and it doesnt explode, or he get arrested.. in the world of street racing, it's a street car. If you're talking licensed street cars, even then, cages, race tires, loud exh, no wipers, missing interiors, it's all fair game. The Butcher's replacement car was an Iroc that raced in Super Gas. It had a title. He put in lights, a progressive NOS controller, a bigger engine, and added some factory interior, and exhaust. That car, as it sat, was an 8s car on the track. And, he drove it to the races on a few occasions. A buddy's comet runs 10.20s on the street. It has a full cage, lights, wipers, exhaust... It's driven everywhere except the track. They are common now. And with these big strokers, it is pretty common. in my younger days, a high 12s car was fast on the street. Now Neons do that. A solid street car needs to run low 11s to get respect if he's racing it on the street. There are no rules there. Nothing. So saying "well it's this or that or it's not a street car" means nothing. If it's out there, and doesn't get towed/arrested, it's a street car.

Don't ask the resident know-it-all about these. He found out the hard way after being warned countless times.

Glad You Was Able To Get Your 2 C in Bro....

FAST Car at any View for early 70's...These Guys are Saying These STREET Cars Today are PURE STREET.....BUT Have BIG STROKERS..Coil-Overs,Back-Halfed,14 Inch Tires That SAY on the Side-Wall 10,NOS,2800# and LESS,Fiberglass Everything,Dominators,ALUMINUM Heads,Aluminum Radiators,etc.....
My 340 RUN In PURE Stock with the ONLY Exception was I had to change the Tires And Headers For Manifolds...

Well stock, except the motor has been apart, bored, rods worked, different pistons, crank probably worked a little, heads shaved with new valves and valve job, probably valve springs and rockers too. Oh and single plane manifold and carb.

Oh and a .590 lift Purple camshaft.

Maybe this one?

http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=DCC-4120657&autoview=sku

It's got 265* of duration at .050!!

So, your 340 is pure stock except for all that stuff.

My NMRA Pure Street class car, had a similar set of engine mods, but I wouldn't ever tell anyone it was mostly stock.

The ten second street cars I'm talking about have heat, full interiors, sometimes AC, run on 93 pump gas, power brakes, stock suspensions (meaning stock style suspensions with bolt on parts), small blocks, max tire 26*10" ET Drag. Maybe a fiberglass hood here and there.

Sadly, none of them are Mopars. They're either 5.0 Mustangs or LS engine GM stuff.

Fuel injection and forced induction are wonderful things, unless you're in the other lane.

Yes my car is very streetable with the 360 or 416,i drive it when ever possible and the ONLY fibreglass part is the six pack hood, all STEEL body, full interior with the added weight of a roll bar, breathing through a FULL exhaust,STEEL bumpers,STOCK radiator,STOCK h.d. leafsprings, totally STOCK frontend, only thing special is drag shocks,oh and 9" dot drag radials,i believe you STOCK guys used SLICKS,and my STREET car 60's in the low 1.40's and runs 11.0's weighing 3450 with me in it....i know guys with totally striped down race cars who wish they were running 11.0's:-D:-D..my moto:"Look stock and leave them shaking their heads watching my rear bumper all the way down the track":-D:-D

Well I was only POed about being told that I will have to wear a full face helmet & changr my shutoff switch if I pick up 13 hundreds.I have a Morso switch like every car that I see with one.Where I was told I had to put a spreader bar between the pillar bars,I would have to move my guages & change my dash.Yesterday I went to a chassis builder and he was working on a car with the bar about 6" from where I was told I had locate mine.He said they like the cross bar close to the bars that go to the front of car.He said 2or 3 inches would make NO differance,I'm going to try it.Next thing I need is
4" rear wheel studs.A guy here in the trailer park says he knows someone he thinks will make them for us.
Anyway I'm the talk of the trailer park, the guys at the rec center think 10.11 @130 mph is fast.A couple of the widow women even asked if I have anything else that can still "get up and go".

Lol.....

I'm Willing to Bet You Don't Have To Worry Pulling Up Next To a FAST Car in Your Bracket...I Can Deal With MOST of the RULES Myself...I Am A TECH INSPECTOR.I Hate some of the rules AND agree that they are to build Companies more Business...I Think The Seat-Belt Every 2 is Ignorant For a Closed Bodied Car that is Stored Inside.

This always made my blood boil- Its ok to race my GTX with stock 40 year old belts but not to race it with a set of 4 year old used 3" race belts? Which do you think is safer!!

One reason I stopped racing the Reliant, dealing with stupid NHRA rules. One tech inspecter wanted to know if I had driveshaft loops!

Hello? FWD pal.

this got a bit off track, did it not? any chance that the NHRA rules being what they are being tied into insurance?? i know insurance is the reason a 3/4 Midget track i went to as a kid in NJ is now long gone.....
