Hey guys,

I’ve got a 360 magnum in my 1971 Plymouth scamp. Looking to replace the oil pan as it’s been expoxied before on the bottom and appears to be seeping.

Was wondering if the generic LA 360 car pan would be fine or if I should try to find a baffled pan for it. Not quite sure of the options that are out there/which is best.

Let me know what you guys think.

Thanks

Remove the pan, remove the epoxy and weld it. Unless you are looking for a larger capacity pan.

It may be easier to replace with a stock pan. If you go with an added capacity pan, you may end up changing the pick up, or possible other conflicts if you have a windage tray. Or steering linkage contact issues. Your choice, just keep your eyes open!
Good luck

I’m not opposed to a stock style pan, I wonder if anyone makes a stock pan with baffles

I’d probably just buy a new version of what’s on there now.
Then you know there won’t be any fitment issues (with the steering, pick up, etc).

Here is a picture of the baffle in a Milodon stock replacement oil pan you can see how simple it would be to fab something similar to add into a cheap Summit replacement pan.
All that said, if this is the engine you were talking about running with a turbocharger I would be inclined to suggest a larger capacity oil pan with baffles like a Kevco pan.

Same engine yes, I’ll be running a centrifugal supercharger on it. It’s self contained so it won’t need external oil supply. However, a larger capacity pan wouldn’t be a bad idea. Granted, it doesn’t cause any fitment issues

Look at the kevco link i posted. They have one with baffles. Then the cheater with baffles, trap door and a scraper that seems it can’t use the factory pickup.

Hey Evan. I got tired of reading poor help replies. Having done this twice……

Get the oil pan of your choice. When your installing it, you’ll notice at the rear of the pan at the main cap isn’t a perfect seal and you’ll just need to apply of big goop glob of RTV to finish the seal.

Being that you’re getting a car pan to replace the truck pan, you’ll need a new pick up to screw onto the oil pump. If you’re going to do the Kevco pan, you might as well grab the pick up with it. I did. Works very well.

That’s it my friend! Motor on down the Hwy! Enjoy.

Geeze, all of a sudden we have a centrifugal supercharger and I saw no mention of the larger capacity truck pan.
Well, guess we have this figured out. It sounded like we were just replacing the oil pan on a driver. Sorry for my 'weak' replies.

I’ve already got a center sump 360 pan on it. It’s just seen better days and in need of replacement with another center sump 360 pan

This is the stock kevco pan with baffles.

Looking at the baffle on this and comparing with the baffle on the Milodon pan posted above i wonder if this pan also needs to use the kevco pickup.

I added baffles to a stock pan coz I don’t like junk just sitting around and i had to cutout the rear baffle for the pickup like the Milodon pan.
