440 Source Head Opinions?

-
All you whollier then us guys do you have a built engine in your car or are you a buff n shine car show guy. Reason I ask is what rods and crank are you running??? Who made the toothbrush you hopefully brush your teeth with? How about your oven, blender, microwave, car mats, lawnmower, rake, etc. come-on tell us.
I buy American for pretty much everything as possible. One thing I'm not going to do is put some China crap on my American made Duster. Nothing made in China will be in or on my Duster. If we keep this up China will owe us- they pretty much do because all you cheap asses keep buying their crap

So like I said you have a stock show car and don’t brush your teeth. Are you avoiding my question

Last I checked 440 Source was run by Mopar enthusiasts in Carson City, NV. It's a small miracle that somebody out there scoured the earth for a way to provide new parts for 40+ year old engines so we can put them in our 50+ year old economy cars. I'm sure they would make them closer if they could.

I really don't have a dog in this fight. As a CNC machinist who works for one of the big players in the high performance aftermarket industry, there's no way I could possibly afford the 440 Source heads much less a set of Eddys on what I make, so it's a moot point. I'm just happy to have work knowing that the parts I make could be made cheaper just about anywhere else in the world.

My understanding is the 440Source heads are "good enough" ootb but not "perfect". I will be taking mine in to my machinist to be checked over and will likely get a valve job; when I mentioned to him I was running those he said "I've seen them pick up 10-20 cfm just from a GOOD valve job."

I also try my best to buy stuff not made in China but I have to draw the line somewhere or I'll go crazy and broke. AT LEAST to me, 440 Source is an independent, American-owned-and-operated business that also tries their best to sell parts made in USA. The connecting rods, water pump, WP housing, head bolts, and a few other parts I got for my 440 build were all made in USA. Pretty sure the Hastings rings I got are also USA-made. Can't say for sure on the Icon pistons or MAHLE-Clevite bearings but I do what I can. I'm trying to buy as much stuff from 440Source as possible too as opposed to Summit etc. since they are a "small" business and also very close; buying parts from Nevada and being in Colorado, I typically receive them in 2-3 days. I personally think that is even more important; not supporting the huge corporations that outsource all their manufacturing to China without a second thought. Not saying Summit specifically does that but y'all know what I mean. Also if we support these smaller companies it will help them reach a point where they have the capital to invest in USA manufacturing. I think it's a safe bet 440Source would cast their heads in USA if they could afford it and still sell at the same price point.

OK I'm off my soap box now lmao

I bought three sets of heads from at the time Brandon (440source) two complete stroker kits, American made aluminum oil pan, oil pump parts, valve covers that are going on my B1 engine, a set of pistons, and probably some things I’m forgetting. At one time Brandon planned on casting 440 blocks and I was on the list for two. But that never came to be. I ran 8.40’s@160mph with his rods and 8.60’s@156mph with his stroker kit.

What heads did you use to run 8.40's?

I have not done any business with 440 source. The reason? I need to stop building 318's....

I was honestly looking forward to the opportunity to do business with them. I really really wish there was a "340Source" though that would be AWESOME. Sure would be nice to have a one-stop shop for SBM parts and tech knowledge.

I've found 440 Source to be one of the very best at customer service. And even though we were never able to get our test ported Stealth heads to flow more than a best of 350 cfm, here is one of their 4.15 stroker kits with Victor heads on the chassis dyno.......

Why would they sell stroker kits and then have stock flowing cylinder heads? They should have an option for a high flowing cylinder head as well

You just said you couldn't get them to flow 350cfm, so my question still remains
You haven't quoted me accurately and then lets just say that you and I don't speak the same language.

I GUESS YOUR USERNAME IS CORRECT THEN

Let us consider ".....speak the same language." As we are both communicating in English we are speaking the same language even if it may not be our native tongue. So it must be something else eh? What could it be? Perhaps a difference in the quantitative amounts of "....stock flowing cylinder heads..." and "......high flowing cylinder head......". As I gave you a link to CNC ported Stealth and the CNC 240 Trick Flow heads on 440 Source website I assume you feel those are equivalent to "stock flowing cylinder heads"(?) and not high flowing cylinder heads.`Therefore we don't speak the same language on cylinder heads.

Second, As per post #45, we don't speak the same language on where we receive our value or how we value others.

I wish you a safe, pleasant and prosperous day. Jim La Roy (IQ52)

As the guy who started this thread let me weigh in with thanks to those of you who answered the original question/ gave your opinions about use of the 440 Source heads. Those of you who chose to use the thread to insult others or to give opinions not related to the original question please refrain from doing so in other threads in the future.
Let’s stick to our cars and how they work while in this forum please. There is enough anger, hostility, and meanness in our daily lives. We don’t need more of it in here.

They already do own us.

Put ootb stealth heads on last year still are working great. I have only a .480" lift cam so not much of a concern but I would put 10° locks and retainers in with a larger cam.
