6.1 Hemi 69 Barracuda Fastback Father Son Project

It will look like it was meant to be there all along.

I like your plan, just be sure to account for the location of the filter and filter adapter relative to the uni-body frame, it may be tighter than you think. Personally, if needed, I would notch the frame to clear rather than run the remote filter for your application. It would be cleaner. The guy I was helping was swapping the 5.7 into an already painted car and did not want to modify the car.

Rear end with the Calipers and Rotors.
I went with the Jeep Grand Cherokee Disc Brakes for the incorporated Drum E-Brakes and the common replacement parts.
Same as Ferd Exploder...
Should work well on our 3000 lb. Barracuda if they worked on 4130 lb. Grand Cherokees.

QA1 should just do that to all future products. Your idea makes a lot of sense.
I will document and send them the suggestion. They could do the same for B and E body swaps and sell their own Swap Mounts to go with their Hemi swap K's. May not be enough demand though.
Anyone on here from QA1?

Mocked up QA1 Motor Mount Relocation.
Now to find someone to weld up a steel one and mod the TTi Mount to match.

Will match the TTi mount by relocating the biscuit mount surface the same distance towards the rear. Then remove the original QA1 mount completely. Could cut the QA mount and move it but I want to keep it there to match angles and be able to measure exactly how much to move the mount on the TTi mount to maintain the relative position of the engine mounting surface.

I'm liking how this is looking.

Cut, Welded and Painted yesterday.
Ordered a Milodon Pan and Pickup, new Ram dipstick tube and dipstick for driver's side of block since stock tube goes in the stock pan.

 That is an awesome mod! Now I gotta look and see if the same thing will work on a spool mount k frame. I've already moved the drivers side mount in a similar fashion, in order to make the AC compressor fit.

Some Cast Blast for the 3rd Member.
The thin black finish the new pig came with was already starting to show some surface rust. I like the natural cast look better.

Mocked up the flex lines and Tabs but not the final location.
Think I will move the tabs just a little closer to the calipers to give another inch or two of slack and then weld them on.

Made up the Hard Lines for the rear brakes. Now I just need to permanently attach the Tabs to the Housing. Just Zip Ties holding them in place for now.

Still freezing cold outside. But hey it's 68* in the family room.
DR. Diff Offset Hangers for the Hotchkiss Leaf Springs.
Urethane Bushings for front and rear spring eyes.
Keeping the rubber in the top half of the rear hangers. Wonder if I will notice any difference.

Some progress today.
Got the Hotchkiss springs out of the family room and on the car with the rear end.
Have some 14" rallye wheels to roll around on but they don't clear the calipers...
So on go the 17s.

Taking a break to work on a 70 Challenger that I could not pass up.
Working on making the interior, Trunk and Engine Bay look as good as the outside.
Original owner started a resurection after years of neglect but unfortunately he passed away before finishing leaving it to his sister who sold it to me. Drove down to the SF Bay Area with my trailer and a pocket full of cash. 48 Hours Left Saturday Mornoning 3/24 at 5:30AM and pull up at home at 5:30 AM Monday 3/26. A solid driver but the interior, trunk and engine bay are getting some much needed attention.

EK2 Go Mango Orange 1970 Challenger, 318, 904 AT, Console, Rallye Dash, Bucket Seats, 6 Way Manual Driver's Seat, V1W, V5X, Half Ring Horn Wheel, Wilwood Front Disc Brakes, Power Steering, New Roof Skin, New Vinyl Top, New Paint, 18" Wheels, New Legendary Burnt Orange Upholstery, Hood Pins with Lanyards, Fender Mounted Turn Indicators, New Gas Tank, New Front Suspension, New Front Sway Bar, New Tubular Upper Control Arms, New Leaf Springs, Vintage Air, New front and rear glass...
How it looks today.

I have the interior just about done and now working on the engine bay. The bottom side of the hood was undercoated and painted over. WTH? Needs to be stripped and painted. Engine needs to come out for paint. Engine bay needs paint. Trunk needs to be stripped and painted. One at a time.
It will be back on the road in a couple weeks ready for the road, cruise night and some shows.

Back to work on the 69...
Put the engine on a stand to remove the stock oil pan.
Reused the stock windage tray with Milodon Pan and center sump pickup.
Test fit with my modified QA1 K-Member and Modified passenger side TTI motor mount.

Before Mod. No way a filter is going on there.

After. K-Member mounting point relocated and TTI Mount modified to maintain position.

Clearance with full size filter. Plenty of room to R&R the oil filter.
I have a 45* oil filter adapter but it looks like I won't be needing it.

K-Member mounting holes are slotted so there is some adjustment for clocking.
Just eye-balled for test fit.

Now to get a pair of exhaust manifolds for the 6.1 that will fit in an A-Body and have clearance for the stock manual steering box.
Seen a lot of posts for different combinations with some mods, coil overs, alterkation, notching frame rails, borgesson PS box, etc...
Anyone use these? Left - 53013857AD Right - 53013858AD
2009-2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Commander with 5.7L Hemi

6.1 in an A-Body with torsion bar suspension, mopar manual steering box and factory exhaust manifolds without cutting the frame or firewall? A little bit of grinding here or there is fine. :)

I'll be watching, I have the same questions!

I hope the people you bought the K-Member from are taking note of the MAJOR improvement you made on their product. Great Fabrication Skills!
I noticed then engine still has the knock sensors, are you keeping them on the motor along with the lifter parts?

Thanks, I can take credit for the idea and the plan but I hired out the cutting and welding.
QA1 should sell them like this. ;-)
The factory harness came with the engine. I plan to replace it with EFI Source harness and MS3 Gold Box.
Knock Sensors and Lifter Parts... Guess I will have to figgure out what you mean. Guessing the knock sensors are on the sides of the block with the heat shields? Not sure what you mean by lifter parts.
I'm learning as I go. :)
