6.4l budget build….kind of

Comp lifters. The old were MDS.

Gotcha. I only ask because I've been going in circles on lifters.

I've got a set of lifters in EngineTech boxes that have Moresa logos and p/n's on them. I found one guy claiming that Moresa was one of the manufacturer's for the OEM, but I also have several references saying that EngineTech lifters are junk and don't use them. This includes people that have had lifter failures and issues like bent pushrods with them. Not sure if EngineTech boxes several manufacturers into the same p/n and the issues were with a different manufacture than Moresa or if they had the issue with Moresa lifters.

This is what I have:

So I am trying to decide if I dump another $600 into lifters from Mopar or roll the dice and hope these are good.

Edit: I should add that all of the pictures of Mopar lifters I have found say "Made in Germany" on the box, not Mexico (Moresa is a Mexico manufacturer).

Interestingly, Moresa is a branch of Dacomsa which is a sister company to Tremec. Yes, that Tremec

Yeah I totally understand about the lifter situation. I’m learning a lot as I go but lots of options and opinions about lifters. Watching u-tube after u-tube videos of what causes failures and what lasts longer. I just decided to run some and find out. I will report back. I’m using this engine as a learning expedition.

Man, those exhaust manifolds are super tight to the block. I like that. I’ve always been a “header only” guy, but those make things so easy.

My plan is to start with these and go headers once I’m disappointed with the performance, hahaha. Seriously though picked them up cheap off marketplace to get me started.

My guess is that you will suffer a little bit of horsepower on the top end of your RPM range... how often you will be "up there"? These "manifolds" look like an easy answer to a tight-fitting engine compartment

Sounds like my build, running all holley gear that i am picking up cheap here and there, just purchased a srt 300 6.4, about to strip it down and rebuild looking to make 550-600hp. Do you need to get rid of vvt if going a decent size cam? Ill get rid of the MDS as this what causes most of the cam issues etc from what i have read, are you keeping the MDS?

I eliminated MDS and I’m using a cam phaser lock out. MDS isn’t really necessary unless you are trying to save fuel. If you run any cam with high lift or long duration then yes, you will need to run a cam phaser lock out or limiter. Lots of cam choices out there.
