Is my engine tilting towards the drivers side? I do know that I have the engine sitting in the holes (engine mounting holes) furthest towards the drivers side. All I could do at that point would be to shim up that side. However, 66fs (Dan), I contacted him and he's going to see if he has another linkage with less of a bend. He insisted that I do not heat the linkage.

don't know if i mentioned it yet but think about bolting the 'hump' in place rather than welding. i used nutserts/rivnuts on my valiant. it made setting up/fitting the rods and shifter easy as it can be done after the trans is fitted. :thumbsup:

The large sheet metal piece in the middle. If I remember, and I will check, it was trimmed to the upper cross member frame.
You can see where it stops on the left side just under that shift rod. Then, all there is is the bare top of the upper cross member. At least, that's what I'm seeing.
 
The sheet metal for the floor is trimmed to the cross member front and rear on the 66. Next get your trans verticle in the Dart, then maybe tweek the 3-4 linkage rod, but I don't think you will need to by then.
 
Maybe try picking the motor up just enough to get the weight off motor mounts, and rotate it counterclockwise, looking at it from the front of the car. The slots in the K frame give you a decent bit of wiggle room to do that.

I've leveled the body side to side, even in the trunk and it's level.
I did have to lift the engine to get the drivers side upwards which put the intake/carburetor at 1degree(leaning to the drivers looking from the front of the car). I have a wooden shim underneath the engine support to maintain that.
So far it has made no difference in the way the shifter linkage looks, it still won't connect, even if I remove the "leave" part, wouldn't make any difference.

Tomorrow, I'll take out that leave part just where the linkage rod is, then bend the linkage via in my hydraulic press? I hate to heat it

I remember the picture you posted on my thread. You did a jam up job! Not sure if I want to do that, once seats, carpet, all is in, I hope to never have to pull the transmission again. So, I'm not going to weld the hump in until later, much later, running, driving, to make sure all is well. I may change my mind as I have a tendency to do so;)

So, bascially, I'm just going to take the bend out and that should take care of this. I can still take a bit out of the "leave" metal, but really, it's only 1/8" thick or so

Bending the shift rod may be the best solution. If you put more of a bend in it at the first bend from the shifter, won't that raise it up some? You have plenty of thread left on the adjustment, so hopefully it will work. Can you loosen up the shifter to shifter plate bolts, will the whole shifter scoot upwards any? If it does, I doubt it would get you enough room to connect the front of the rod.
 
That shifter plate is rock solid and ain't going nowhere! Tomorrow, I'm going to bend it! Still haven't gotten an affirmative on heat (a little cherry red or cold bend?
 
So, bascially, I'm just going to take the bend out and that should take care of this. I can still take a bit out of the "leave" metal, but really, it's only 1/8" thick or so

I think I'm in agreement. That sheet metal shouldn't be the "go no go" measurement. I would just stick that rod on the vise with that bend "up" and give it a few smacks with a hammer.

Cold bend for sure.
 
k.. just curious why no heat? to the people saying cold for sure, that rod isn't structural and heating it even if it made the rod even slightly weaker, it's a shift rod not suspension parts...

Because it's a bend and it will weaken it and possibly bend back under pressure. You never know. She might plan on some speed shiftin. lol
