Once I establish where I want the compressor, I'll just have to take critical measurements once the engine it back on the ERS (engine run stand) to start the mocking process. The rough location I have here is looking pretty good, I'll use the two lower old alternator bracket holes for the lower pivot mount. The compressor is relatively light. Anyways, kind of excited to get on this. It'll be nice having all the AC lines on one side~ and plenty of room for a larger condensor;)

The miata engine I had installed the mini Sanden on it, so it's like doing this all over again :lol:

Actually, I guess I could go ahead an take it all down, I've accomplished what I set out to do installing the engine/trans: shifter location, AC location, found out needs motor supports, etc.

Winding up easier than I thought fabricating the AC bracket, a few minor adjustments, weld it completely, make the adjustment rod, clean up the bracket, make it look like it belongs there;) and then order an Alternator of sorts, must be relatively small;) Hardest part was going through my drill bits to find good ones that actually drill! grrr
Also good access to the spark plug

Looks like you have plenty enough wrap on the AC belt so it won't squeal being a single. I'm not sure if it's original to the truck, but my 88 D100 has a small alternator. Way smaller than what would have come on any 60's - 70's Mopars. I'm pretty sure it's a Denso alternator, but I will check when I get home Monday.
 
If I remember right, other than mine being natural aluminum finish, that pretty much looks like the one on my old truck. I need to open the hood and charge the battery anyway, so I'll get a pic of the alternator when I get home tomorrow. I've never paid much attention to the one wire deal, but I 'think' it means that the voltage is regulated within the alternator. I'd say that Ray, @halifaxhops can splain it exactly. :)

I'll measure the one on my truck tomorrow for you, but I am sure it's smaller than any of the Chrysler alternators of the muscle car era. It's already dark and my butt found the recliner after a long drive....lol.
 
Hey no hurry, I did ordered the one I put a link earlier on~ but I'm curious about the one you're talking about too;)
 
I had to unweld one of the pivot tabs, compressor was just a tad off. So, unweld, reweld a couple times, then I have a new adjustment are coming. But I can breathe now. If I can get the alternator in, get a carburetor, it shouldn't be long before I fire the engine, however going out of town soon:( Darned holidays, so it might be a couple weeks~ sad

Well, found out we're not leaving until next Tuesday! but have the entire family here Friday through Sunday.
In the meantime, working on some things, put the Dart back on the rotisserie, had to lower the back end of the engine on the ERS as it was not level to the carburetor, then put the wiring loom to the distributor~ There are three wires which I don't know where they go? One has to be to the ignition switch, maybe one to ground>

Where do you plan on mounting the alternator? Why not use a stock one and mount if on the driver's side?
 
Hey! ;) IT will definitely be mounted on the drivers side, just above the power steering pump. As I have seen in my dreams, the bracketry will be coming off of the solid mounted power steering pump bracket, not the pivoting part of course, the stationary. As for a stock one, just seems like it'd be too large in diameter, but I dont have one around to test fit. The one I ordered won't be here until MONDAY! grrr! It has to be black to match the bolt on's, but that's easily done with spray paint;)

You have way too much energy..i just mounted 2 lights in my garage.. took 20 mins and my night is done....
 
I just like to get something done and feel like I haven't wasted a day, the days just seem to go by sooooo quickly!

this is true.. i'm out of motivation at the moment.. not a lot to do anyway.. winter is bout here.. plenty of time
