Agreed! My car does sit low compared to the Chevy racers at the strip, but I don’t think I’ll get it as low as the pissed off valiant. It’ll look good with some slicks tucked up in the back
Thanks Brad, Given the state of the world, I don’t have much else to do but work on this pig. I forgot to mention I switched out the center chunk for a 489 case with 4.10 gears with 35 spline spool and axles. Just need to finish the line lock and to reroute the fuel line and it’s quatermile time!...... if the track ever opens
Yep, after 40+ years of fenderwell headers limiting turning radius and ride height options, mine is finally down where it needs to be; wheel openings raised one inch and flared to allow further drop. Opening up the rear wheel openings helped also.
Beautiful ride! Built by the same guys that did the violent valiant, right? I need that hood on my car! Totally agree with doing away with fender well headers, that’s why I “steered” away from them with my build
Your header fabrication is AMAZING. What tig welder are you using? I am ready to buy one and want your input.
Thanks, I used an old liquid cooled Miller tig at where I used to work. I can’t remember what model it was. If I were to buy a new welder, I’d go with anything Miller brand, can’t go wrong. Really not a fan of Lincoln
Thank you! I wish I could take credit for it, but it's way beyond my talent level. Hot Rod Chassis and Cycle built it; I just wrote the checks.
I want get the slicks on, but the rust from this quarter panel is getting everywhere (like in my eyes), so it’s time to go. Also gained some much needed weight reduction when I found this sunken treasure hidden inside!
Aaaaand voila’! No bondo for now, too burnt out to mount the slicks on tonight (have to remove the lower coil over bolt and drop down the rearend to squeeze the tires in). Back at it tomorrow
Slicks are now mounted on the beast! Taking her into the shop later this week to go over everything before track time
Tires just barely rub on the inside tub when going around a corner. I’m gonna have to add some spacers and roll the outer fender lip to make it right. Will possibly push the outer fender out a hair with the porter power ram to get some clearance for sanity. I’m thinking 1/4 in. spacers and 3” lug studs should make it work. Everything on these early A’s is tight tight tight!
if u use a porta power , make sure you use 2x4`s that u have rounded /tapered the corners off of , on the outer fenders !
