Here are some pictures I took. The engine has been pulled because its locked up. Im going to stick with the 273 and rebuild it.

DD. That's a solid 66 you have there. It will be a fun project for you and you'll have lots of fun here. We love to help. The bottom photo looks like it might be a ZZ1 paint code like mine. Have fun! toolmanmike

the trouble with the pic of the race car is that in the early 60s chrysler didnt race A body cars in the funny car class. they did race the 64 barracuda with the 273 in stock or mod stick class

Just picked this up from a member. Solid car, everything there and in pretty good to real good shape. Anxious to get started.

Nice drop top Jim. I like those wheels too. I have walked past the vendor at the Nats that sells those wheels for 3 years now and haven't pulled the trigger yet. I guess I have been waiting for a 66 Dart owner to try them so I could see what they look like. Thanks for that. Keep us posted on your progress. Looks like it's getting close to being all red. Nice toolmanmike

Are those Hopsters? They look great on your vert. tmm

If you own a 66 Dart please respond to this post. There seems to be a lot of us here lately. Post your favorite photo of your car too. toolmanmike
Not sure if u can help but we're losing oil pressure on the 318 marine motor in the 66. Got aby suggestions? Too does the oil pan lie in the top or the bottom of the oil pan? Thx for any new info. J

Welcome to FABO. I'm not sure what you mean by "losing oil pressure". It's progressively getting worse at all rpms? Just bad at idle? Both hot and cold? The oil pan question makes no sense to me. Maybe you mean oil pump or sump screen? Basically if you know for sure that the oil pressure is not good, it's usually worn out bearings. Sometimes a faulty pump can also cause that but since it's the first thing that gets oil, it rarely goes bad where the bearings are still good. Test the engine with a good live-line oil pressure gauge to verify the oil pressure's actually low. Many times the sender can go bad and give a false reading.

should be ready to race at Columbus in 3 weeks. still a lot to do but a little hard work wont kill ya"

Did the 66 Dart GT's come with the 904 or the 727? Not sure how to tell them apart, mine is covered in gunk right now.

All '66 Darts with an automatic had the 904 transmission from the factory. Yours could have been changed sometime in it's life however. Usually you have to "message" the firewall a bit for clearence but it will fit. The pan on a 904 is shaped like a square with one cornre cut off. The 727 has an irregular shape with a bulge in the pan around the dip stick tube area. It also uses a 29/30 spline output shaft instead of the 25/26 version and most 727's have a longer output shaft and extension housing.

Its 904 becauee of its squared off pan .
