66 Dart Owners thread

Holy cow Mike.... That was a sweet car... Wish mine look like that when I am done with it...
I posted that photo and @pettybludart had to have one. He found a 170 post, shipped it home to Canada and eventually made it into a race car.

I remember that car at the Nats as well Mike. I have owned mine since 97 and daily drove it with a 340/727 for years.

I miss my collection of early Darts I sold off 18 month ago when I moved to Tx. 63,4,5 ..... I love the early B bodies and these little darts look darn close and can be found so cheap. Anyone seen any early B or any B bodies project cheap lately!!!????? LOL!!!!!!!......... Of course they all take $$ to put back on the road!!

Took mine for a first test drive a little while back. Skip to 5:00 if you're not interested in cold starts w/o choke on seven cylinders. :D

Well the time has come.
Last year I put the '66 back on the road after 11 years sitting in the garage.
Did the fuel system, tune up, LOF, front disc brake conversion
wheels ,tires and rear brakes and alignment.

Now its time for the exterior and interior . The Dart is in the body shop for some minor repairs and a complete paint job with a color change.

What you see now was done in 1975 so ya its time.

I'll make a new post later when its show time.

Funny how one can feel so differently about an appearance after a little time. Looks like the paint is pretty good? Not a lot of prep work?

The prep work includes filling the mirror, antenna holes replacing the passenger rear lower quarter panel behind the wheel opening repairing some damage to the passenger front lower panel behind the bumper then sanding and prep for paint .

What was only going to be repainting the white after the repairs turned into a complete repaint because the yellow needed some touch ups. Its a custom color that would require a bunch of time color matching and then the added cost of it just didn't make sense.
So I decided it was time for a color change . The white will be Toyota bright white ,the yellow will change to a Turquoise that is a fleet color for a Florida city. These will keep the cost the paints in check.
I still have to repaint the black trim and have the bumpers rechromed and replace the rocker trim .
Then there is the interior to deal with , more on that later.

Like Rosanna Rosa Danna used to say "If its not one thing its the other."

Not mine, it went for 7400 on eBay, I talked myself out of it, mostly because the **** would have hit the fan at home. Promised the wife 2 or 3 cars ago, “this is the last one”

It said drive anywhere, had brakes done, brake lines, tank, tires, clutch, and exhaust etc.... It originally had a white vinyl top

Just sharing some pictures of my '66 Dart 270 Convertible RHD.

Restoration was carried out in 2010/2011. Car is off the road at the moment due to leaking/broken exhaust manifold and fuel pump (which I have ordered). Then, I should be getting the car inspected and taxed and should be good to go. Those exterior pictures are mostly taken recently, and yes the car still looks the same :)

Cheers

Awesome car !!!

My 1966 Dart GT, I just acquired it from a chevy guy who had plans of an LS or demo derby...I had to save the car. I plan to build a D Dart style clone out of it, the car was built in Ontario Canada, shipped to Eudora Kansas, and it spent it's entire life there until the kid before me got it. It is a factory 273 hi-po 4 barrel, 727 automatic, 8 3/4 rear end. I don't know if there is a sure grip yet, but I am gonna check once the snow melts. The interior was black&white buckets/console with the ZZ1 exterior paint code. The original owner also turned the car into a funky street machine(I am kind of fond of that look) I am gonna fix the flares(make them better), repair the rust, and build a D Dart spec 273 but shoot for a little more power with some home porting. If y'all are interested in checking out the build, just search Scott's Speed Shop on you tube, the car has been dubbed the Yard Dart.
