Assuming he used a sonic tester?

Was the tubing purchased through a local steel supplier?
Yeah he used a sonic tester.
I bought it from summit.
The local steel supplier is very expensive.
The 12 points of my cage is from Art Morrison which is basically over the mountains west of me, very quality materials.

Yes, I measure and double check my tubing and sonic check it in various places along the length before I even started cutting the tubing up.
NHRA has changed several bars over the years for a 25.5 (7.50) cert. 3 of my buddies 7.50 re-certs failed due to these changes, but we built mine a little different and my OCD for having things a certain way allowed mine to pass all 3 times now.

I had that green 1974 duster certified for 8.50 before I sold it because it was never certified. While he was here I had him do my 1974 heads up car. I was going to have it certified for 7.50 because I thought the 6.50 cert was only good for two years. When he said it was good for three years also I went ahead and got a 6.50 cert. both cars easily passed.

Someday I hope to be building cages for cars that go that fast. Even though my car won't be all that fast, my plan is for it to be a rolling advertisement for my work. That's why I'm choosing to do everything I can myself and become my own boss and work from home.
Someday....

I do need a sonic tester for sure.

Today I put in a couple pieces to brace the underside of my bars that go into the trunk.
Working with old steel I had to clean up (sucky)
Finished my tie in for the passenger side wheel tub.
Set up my sliders and tacked them in.
I started figuring out my fuel cell location & brackets, I haven't finished but I have a plan.

That's all for today

You may want to rethink about burning in the sliders just yet. Wait until you get full weight of the car on the springs to locate them. Otherwise you may run out of travel on the sliders…. Ask me how I know. lol

Good point!
I mounted the sliders to my leaf springs and then stuck a piece of angle iron under my leaf springs and jacked them up until the car was just about off of the jack stands. There was about 3/8 of an inch of rear travel.
When I was done I stood on the springs with them unloaded and they moved about 1/2 inch when I jumped on them.
But yes I'll wait lol

If all else fails race it at renegade without the body panels and call it the "dart kart", I'm sure roadkill would approve!

That's funny, I might have to do that & hell maybe it will be fast

As usual things take way longer than I wish they would but I'm really trying to make a nice car.
This is my fuel cell frame, great plan until I noticed I couldn't get fuel lines on lol, so I fixed that. I made some .125 tabs that I will weld nuts too on the underside of the car for when I'm 90 years old (thank myself).
