well..**** ...Ordered a new set of crane adjuster from jegs...got box today...wrong part....cellophane wrapper that was half way around box had right part number for adjusters.....but it was a box of hydraulic lifters...LOL

i knew as soon as i picked up the package it was too heavy to be adjusters.....OK...Plan B....going to check my stock pile of parts...might have 16 of them in other new rockers.....or run these thru tap and die...

call jegs tomorrow and get a return shipping label

Finally swapped out the metering valve for the brakes yesterday.....Talked to Dr Diff last year and told him the rear disc were wearing alot faster then the front......told him the car originally came with disc/drum setup....he told me i needed to get rid of the proportioning valve and get metering block...of course he had the part in stock...

Well...took engine off engine stand and mated it to 904...ran tap thru converter threads...made sure the converter was still seated in the pump....

all went well and pretty fast....so the decide to drop engine into engine bay.....that tubular k member sure make installing the engine a piece of car...dropped right end.....

start hooking stuff up tomorrow morning before it get hot...suppose to be 110...yeah...dry heat...lol

Engine and trans bolted in...headers hanging...radiator in with hoses hooked up...driveshaft bolted in..

need to get starter in...and shifter linkage on trans.....put carb and distributor in...

was going to finish it off in morning and fire engine to break in cam Monday.....BUT

my youngest daughter 2007 dodge caliber alternator took a ****....so that needs to be replaced ....oh fun...

after a short vacation from the heat to North Cal.....back to work....106 today....suppose to be thunderstorms tomorrow...

got bottom of car done...starter...converter bolts...shifter linkage....

got headers bolted on...no collectors yet......distributor back in...put plugs back in tomorrow...and fire in the hole...

also need to hook up the steering linkage...

Got the new cam shaft broken in today....it was messy....that is all.....need to write up a check list .....lol

clean up tomorrow....

Mess cleaned up.....but too hot and humid to get anything done today......

Had to recheck the timing....

Note for old people...always have your glasses on went you are setting the timing ......

looks like everything is done...just need to run the trans thru the gears since I had to remove the shifter linkage....

Sept 11 is coming.....

We might haul the Dart and Duster over to Bakerfield for the race on Oct 16-18...just run the bracket class at the ANRA race.

got my Demon fire this morning...had been playing with another carb on it...went back to the QFT 950 E85....plus i had put a new pump on it earlier this year..and the fuel pressure gauge was showing zero..

Pulled pressure line off...turned on pump...squirted across garage....blew out Isolator ....now i have fuel pressure registering on gauge.

Now..gotta put some new batteries in Dart and fire it ....has new valve springs and seals.....Sept 11 is coming...

Got the new batteries in the Dart....25 lbs lighter.....had to modify the hold downs...all is good now....

Trying to get my 73 Duster converted to the Fitech EFI unit....don't know if it is going to make it...by the Demon is ready to roll...****...the belted are expired....Summit here i come...

get the platinum belts.... that way you can try like hell to hang on to the "free" recert certificate they come with :)

No..actually my girlfriend of many years got mad a me a month ago and has not talked to me since...SO i got plenty of time to work on the cars these days....

But....this afternoon I went over to the garage and washed a 71 Duster got the trailer with the old motorhome parked where I wanted it...Fired up car....sounded like ****..drove it up and trailer...shut it off...went to start it again...starter dragging...So I go sit in the garage....with Swamp cooler blowing on me....

I said..something wrong with the timing on that Duster...I had set it at 34 degrees...but remember after getting it running with new cam....had a hell of a time finding the timing mark.....

So after thinking for about 30 minutes...BSing with youngest daughter...I said...hey...let get that car off the trailer......so back in the garage...get 1/2 inch racket drive out ...turn engine over to TDC...pop cap...god dam rotor is no where NO. 1....

Summit SFI balancer....slipped.....after changing cam...I never checked the balancer against the timing cover......out comes radiator...off with pulley......Had another SFI balancer on shelf....with engine at tdc...old summit is advanced 10 degrees or so....put on new balancer....radiator goes back in...fire up...set timing at 34...double check......shut off engine...refire...no dragging on starter...engine sound crisp.......

Next time I go to reno...i am taking both balancers .....back to summit....say what a wonderful product you have...LOL

so anyway...no matter how many times you have done this....check the **** out...LOL

I even got home in time for the kick off....

Wow....what a bad night at the tnt....

took a car that had run 10.90s in the heat at the last race and got it to run 11.33 in heat at this race with a cam change.....should be in the 12s by this afternoon...LOL

71 Dart ran great....in the hot and humid weather...unfortunately the wind picked up at the beginning of the 1st round of elimination after not blowing all day......we changed the dial in from a 10..73 to a 10.71....she had a better light...but had a 8.90 dragster chasing her...10.706....break out my .004.....

71 Duster was a different story...finally figured out what the problem was or was not....tomorrow at 11 am we will find out.....i am getting real good at swapping out balancers.....sure glad i bought a good remover and installer....

Best of luck,Tony.

Tonya and the 71 Dart went 4 rounds today..running between 10.73 and 10.74 with good lights until the final 6 cars... a .110 light was not good...but the car still ran a 10.73 on a .72 dial.....

71 Duster still sucked today....that is all.......
