Good day for a TnT...71 Dart unloaded ...while trying to start..momentary button breaks..usually have one..but not today...Tonya and I drive to autozone to get replacement...Tonya R&R the old one and it works...

While on our way back from the Zone...Christin and the Fuster call...while at tech the wire on the NSW fall off..and car will not turn over...get back ...walk over to staging lanes and jump the starter relay switch to get it running...back at pit..i put wire on and needs a small crimp on the spade...

Duster goes 10.88 at 122...Dart goes 10.71 at 123+....I go 13.40 popping and farting down the track...

Next pass..tonya is in front of me...watching her leave...i begin burn out...and look up to see what she had run..car is point at a 45 degree angle to wall...track offical says she and the car are fine...the car might have touched the wall..apparently after shifting into high gear the steering wheel came off into her hands...braking she got the car slowed but it then headed for the wall..and she slammed on brakes sliding the car next to the wall..

Demon and I pop and fart to another mid 13.....back at pit...off comes distributor cap and wire..nothing there...off comes valve covers...adjuster had backed off...no spare rockers with me...usually have a couple as we all have crane 1.6 ..Drive home to get spare...and need valve cover gasket.....got it fixed...

Dart goes 10.71 with out hitting anything with steering wheel staying on the shaft this time...I think she made another run 10.67 ....

Demon goes 10.85 at 121....

and my favorite 71 Duster goes 10.88...10.91..10.92 and another 10.91...

and we get to do it all over again tomorrow..

Wow, good to read Tonya is OK. Bet she was a bit excited when that went down.

forgot .....just before she made that run...apparantly she was testing the brake button and it did not work...she got out of car to see if the wire had come off the trans connector...it came off her button easy fix...but she was hurrying to get belts back on as she was about 4 cars from the front of staging lanes...I think she did not snap the wheel on .....
 
dam...the prison called and i was not here to get the call.....Fuster might be head to the clink....
 
alot better day....no fire drill....

71 Demon...1st pass...one tire wet...heads for xmas tree...reel back in 11.07 at 110....oh well...2nd pass...10.84 at 121...straight....cold weather and other cars bring water out the box...

1st round....dial 10.85.....run 10.82....oh well...
 
71 Dart....no wall kissing today...

1st pass...spins tires in left lane too....

2nd pass 10.69....at 123+

1st round...dial 10.68 run 10.69 for the win...lousey reaction time...button stuck...RT started with a .3...the camaro in the other lane...was ordering something to eat...his started with a .5.... I should have raced him...LOL

2nd round...10.68..but relights with a -.010....runs it out with a 10.65...
glad to see the car running good....that engine was assembled back in 2006.....
 
71 Fuster...1st pass 10.87...
2nd pass 10.88

1st round dial 10.88....runs a 10.873...wins in a double break out...RT .032....opponent had a RT .029 broke out by .010...dialed a 10.56...68 dart with a big motor in it...

2nd round...lowers dial to 10.87.... has a .016 light...runs a 10.85....break out....car in other lane has a .007 light ..dials a 10.51...runs a 10.516......

Everything drove back on to the trailer...the most important thing except everyone ended the day safe and sound...
 
Been working on a 88 D250 i bought over a year ago...changing out the throttle body and computer for a carb..and regular ignition...removed all the wiring from under the hood and rewire it......

Had some free time to work on D250 today...got the water leak fixed...

Then I noticed that the timing mark was nowhere close on the damper and timing chain cover...turned engine over by hand this morning and yes...the damper had slipped....Removed and replaced it this morning......

Need to get eddy 1407 installed...got the thin adapter plate i needed to fix on the eddy performer intake...

and need to swap out headers...got a beautiful set of ceramic coated headers for the truck in a package deal early this year...then off to the muffler shop.

Yeah....I ended up with a holley 350 2 barrel on the performer intake...running great...got the timing all set....now need to get throttle linkage worked out...next week get the new headers on it..and off to the muffler shop...

I was sitting here the other night...tired..wondering went it was all going to stop or get done...and ****...I said it never will.....lol...

and with saying that I got another car sitting on the lot now...
 
Saturday-Sunday races..

Taking 71 Duster to TnT tomorrow but not the bracket race in the afternoon...as driver has to go caucus...71 Dart stay home on saturday due to same reason....But both return on Sunday....

but ...73 Duster going to TnT and probably bracket race.....Duster has the FiTech EFI throttle body on it... finally called tech this afternoon and got cold start issue resolved and accelerator pump adjustments...so will have something to compare against the 750 double pumper...
 
Saturday....

73 Duster...made 3 runs during the TnT....12.86...12.84...then 12.75....the car is sensitive to what rpm you launch at...lower it runs faster...flashes converter...the throttle linkage on the EFI is very stiff....i have a very small spring on it....hard to go thru tech without a spring on it...I removed the spring on one pass ..did not make a difference...stiff and hard to feel the pedal to get up on the converter..

start bracket race...12.83 on 1st time run...2nd time run car bogs so bad...i have to take foot out of throttle to get it to move... reaction time started with a .7

1st round ..dial 12.81...come up on converter like earlier runs...car bogs...reaction time is 1.2 seconds...car basically does not move...

the Fitech 12.75 run is the same as what the 750 dp ran......Have no clue as why the Fitech bogged so bad...

Well...I think I am done with this experiment....I have no clue on turning the Fitech...I am pretty good with tuning the holley..

tech support is not open on Saturdays went i am the races...
 
Hummmmm... a Bog.... Cant wait to hear what thats all about? That was one of the thing that was bragged about that it was not suppose to do !!!!!! Keep us posted on that one Tony.... :)

Duster and Demon battled head winds....tail winds ...cross winds..

Demon ran a new best for las vegas..without the tail wind

Got all 3 cars parked at MATS....did not see many of the off brands there.....
 
Everyone and Everything survived the weekend...only excitement with the cars was a front needle and seat on tonya dart...seem to fill the cylinders up with some e85...

I replaced the needle and seat ....then we figured out the cylinder was full cause it would not crank over...Well.. J body...Jay helped me get the plugs out and we all got a shot of ethanol...

tonya went 2 rounds..
christen went 3 rounds
Dad went 4 rounds...
 
Already spend the money from the swap meet...the demon has cord showing on the right side.....ordered a new set last night....

Someone pointed out the chord showing going into the 4th round while I was 1st in line....probably why the car wanted to go to the right all weekend off the line...

The FIbtech is a learning unit correct?
How much time has it had to learn?

Suppose to be a learning unit...it got just over 12 1/2 seconds on each pass....slow learner I guess....It will working good..until the last time run and 1st round...it took a ****...
