71 Duster 360 (new project)

Worked on rocker arms tonight....got the rockers and spacers all together....

Going to run thru the valve adjustment then back them off .....then this one is ready to go....

Gotta get the car back together after it was painted...

ok....changed rockers ...LOL...using a set of Hughes 1.6.....the blue ones old hughes rockers they sold....Dove I believe.

Well....digging out the old 71 Fuster for this year of racing....got some new paint on the car...easy to find in the pits....

Got the grille and front bumper back on...,working on installing new hood pins...black scuff plates...

That was the color that I eventually painted my first 72 Duster. I remembered black decals contrasted nicely on it.
Nice sneak peak.
 
Been working on the old Fuster....got both bumpers on...rear side makers......need to get those door handles back on next...

well...bought a set of new 71 Duster rear tail light lenses.....dam....even with Classic Industries discount...310 shipped.......I think they mark everything up so you think you are getting a discount...LOL
 
Taillights suppose to be here tomorrow....I would have thought for that price CI would fly out and install them also.....

Had a fun afternoon putting the door handles back on...what a PIA..those wonderful little plastic things.....but I got them done....waiting on side mirror gasket......

Plan to have it running this weekend...need to replace 3000 rpm chip in the msd box ...had rev limiter to keep any one from winding it up....

going to layout the black stripe on it...and see If I can tackle that job too

This is the car with strange Dana 60
And it is roughly 3000 lbs with driver correct?
 
71 Duster has a FAB 8 3/4 from Moser....suppose to get Strange Dana 60 this summer with new 408 engine
71 Dart and 71 Demon both have the Strange Dana 60s...

All are just under 3000 lbs with drivers...
 
Got those wonderful new tail light lenses for the 71 Fuster...they look pretty nice compared to the originals ones....

But looking at the box they came in....I had to laugh....

Did some clean up on the car from some over spray....Probably going to try and start if ...if the batteries are good enough....and then going to layout the stripes on the car ...and see what happens with those.....waiting on the outer gasket for the tail lenses ....310 bucks and does not come with both gaskets...
 
Got the old 360 fired up this morning....had to clean out carb as this has been sitting since August of last year.......had to put a charge to the batteries....cloudy and suppose to rain the today/tomorrow...so latter this week it will get a bath.

 
Well...it is all back together ..got the rear tail light lenses in today,...had to replace the rear 50cc pump on the carb...got new seat belts to put in tomorrow....inside the trailer got painted this weekend...me and the airless sprayer got in a fight and it won...

Only thing ...the driver side mirror that I took off does not look like the stock mirror I have on the other A bodies....so I need to figure that out but it can wait a few days.....

so friday night weather permitting...TnT...Saturday Morning TnT....Saturday afternoon Bracket Race...and Sunday Morning Bracket race.....

I have black 71 340 Duster stripe kit for it....and it going to have to wait until after April break as we have the next 3 weekends of racing with racing on both saturday and sunday....figure we will have the stripe on for MATS
 
The Fuster lived up to its name on the 1st pass....13.90....lol....pop...died...farted...and ran...lol
Some adjustments on the carb it remembered it was a Duster....10.90 @ 122+ and last pass at 10.91 @122+.....and again not very good 60 fts...
 
71 Duster ran great today....with the sun shinning....ran some 10.80s.,,,,

Daughter did a great job of dialing and driving and made it to the Semi Finals....then car slowed down....a few hundreds...
 
Wait for the 4 wide and the head wind..... :)
Well, sounds like your squared up at the moment... Now you need that career best... :steering::thumbsup:
 
Later this summer...this Duster will get up grade with new Dana and 408 engine....
