72 petty blue twister "BACKWARDS BUILD"

-
well, like i just painted my duster, and it cost me 250.00 in just material

yea, this one may hit the auction block, but will be the hardest to sell, as i have so much sentimental value in it.lol

next car is the purple 70 dart i picked up. either going b.b, or just a stout 360 auto. i have to take a brake from the 4 speeds for a while.lol

Car looks great, I have always liked Petty Blue and the painted bumpers are a nice touch also.

In post #33 there is an engine shot and there looks to be a Champion radiator.
Is it a 2 row or a 3 row?

And are you happy with the fit and how is the cooling?

Thanks,
Paul

I can only hope my "Backwards" build comes out this nice.....man that is a nice ride.

it is a 3 row. but i ordered wrong. the engine has the older waterpump, so it put one of the hose on the wrong side. so instaed of just putting a new waterpump, i had them make one for the oppisite way. so now, if i have to change w.p's, i have to stick with the older cast iron type. it keeps my car running very cool. i also ordered it with the cooling electric fan. i have not used that yet. i have a vicous fan on it right now. if that does not keep it cool in the summer, i will put the electric one on. so far, i have had good luck with these rads

Joe that looks GREAT!!! But you gotta do sumthin with that face.

well, mommy says i am beautiful. and momma does not lie to me. lol

And thus the saying......"a face only a mother could love." LMAO

ok, so. i met fellow member mikebee, down in nc over the last week, and he had a real nice headliner. all the original paint was flaked off, but for 50 bucks, i figured i could recover it. so, i bought it and a set od 73 sail panels. i thought they would fit my 72, AND I WAS RIGHT.LOL after i choped them up into the shape of the 70-72 style. now i do not have to worry bout them falling apart, as now they are plastic, and look correct in the car. here is pics of me making a template and hacking them, and then with the headliner done and in the car

yes, i know i have to clean the sun visors.lol

so, i finally got the stripes on the car. it is about done. yea, who am i kidding.lol it is never done.lol

here is it.......................
i now plan in the next week to put a rally dash setup in her, and i need to paint the hoob blackout and on the way is the ladder bar stripes for the hood.

after that. the only thing i want to improve on the car is the front seat covers. i already put a like new black back seat in it, and a nice set of covers on the front to match, but nothing like the origional seat covers.lol

Damn, that is nice. Guess there is hope for my backwards build too :)

yes, always hope. should of seen this when i bought it. not rusted, but i still never thought i would actually finish.lmao

and, i am still little under the 6,000.00 mark. once i do the rally dash, i will be over it, but hey, it is what i like to do. buy them, restore it, and bring it back to life. then, pass it on to someone that will enjoy it more than me. i get more thrill out of doing the work than driving them. my kids love it though. they are going to get me speeding tickets.lol "daddy, go faster" every moment they are in the car.

deal for car fell through, and ...........

tonight i waill start the complete tearout of the dash, windsheild, so i can put the rally setup in the car

well, my plans to pull the dash tonight have been put on hold. as i just got a roller from georgia, that comes with two truckloads of extrac 70-72 duster parts. so, i asked him for a pic of the stuff he has to go with the car. the pile is like 4 ft. high, by almost 20 ft by like 6 ft wide@. trim, rears, chunks, bucket seats, pedals, manual trans', hoods, fenders, glass, you name it, i seen one of it at least in the piles. and, he says that is just half of it all!. two rally dash frames,, two wiring harness for thm, and that is a big one, as i have been trying to find a harness for one.lol CRAIG, YOU GOT FIRST DIBS ON A SECOND ONE.LOL

SO, NOW I AM RYING TO FIND OUT HOW TO GET A TITLE FROM MY STATE. WE MADE A DEAL THAT IF I BUGHT THE CAR, HE WOULD GO TO HIS DMV, AND GET A REGISTRATION CARD AS HIM THE OWNER, AND THEN I THINK I CAN GET A TITLE HERE IN VA. SO, HE DID GET THE REG TODAY, AND NOW I THINK IT IS GOOD TO GO.

HE SAYS IT IS A 71 340-4-SPEED CAR..............
I KNOW IT IS A MANUAL CAR FOR SURE, BUT WITHOUT THE FENDER TAG AND/BUILD SHEET, I DO NOT THINK I CAN BE SURE OF IT BEING 4 SPEED, BUT IT DOES HAVE THE TORQUE BOXES. THE DASH VIN DOES SHOW IT TO BE A H-CODE CAR, SO , OH WELL, STILL A MANUAL SHIFT CAR.LOL

THAT WILL BE THE NEW THREAD
